Technically speaking, I am not happy about having to lie (I genuinely dislike lying). But you are correct that I do withhold pieces of the truth that could lead players to make incorrect assumptions. This is essential to preserve the integrity of the game and to protect any allies on my team (if any exist).

Rubik wrote:
For example, everyone might lose on day 8, not just scum.
For the same reason that I must, at times, withhold the truth (or, commit a "lie of ommission" as you called it), I do not make a habit of confirming or denying the suspicions of others. However, I will make an exception in this specific case to tell you that not everyone will lose on Day 8, but the Mafia most certainly will if they don't find a way to either end me (a difficult thing to do for sure) or end the game before then (less difficult, presumably).

Everything always is in a game of mafia. Especially a bastard one.

That doesn't exclude the possiblity of "everyone but you", technically speaking.

I get the feeling that you're self aligned and your win condition is causing so many people to join the game that it doesn't finish in 8 days and everyone but you loses.

What do I know, though? I'm just a big guy. :V

Chill out.

I'm just talking dude. You know that thing you're supposedly pressuring HW to do. You can't have it both ways bro.

This is a silly place and a very silly game.

The zinger claim is very interesting indeed. I believe it, and Aaarrrgh's statements about the crystal skeleton as well.

I'd like a vote count before altering my vote.

I'm not sure why you think I'd try to be the first person to persue the CS as scum when any player regardless of alignment allegedly benefits from it. Scum benefits from staying out of the spotlight more than taking it, probably.

It certainly works.

The first player that gets it will be protected by town because in dubio pro reo is a thing whether we like it or not. Scum has literally nothing to lose from getting it as soon as possible because they don’t really have to worry about getting MafiaKilled, and town isn’t going to disrupt someone without evidence. So not only they’ll waste town’s roles by getting townpants in this silly WIFOM, but they’ll also get a nice power-up to mess with us.

Rubik wrote:

Trying to get an advantage before Town has properly discussed who is towny or nor certainly doesn’t look good to me, yea.

Why would the first player who gets it be protected?

The town will always kill people with no evidence, that's how mafia works.

How is trying to get discussion going by suggesting that you be picked for something that literally every player in the game should want unless they distrust the skeleton's words a bad thing? Do you suggest no one vote to lynch anyone either because we haven't properly discussed who is scummy yet?

Clearly that's alignment-indicative for some reason.

Because town wouldn't want a town player to be stronger, that's crazy. :looloo:

Rubik are you actually bothered?

Every second I see ExLight's reasoning at work I feel myself losing intelligence. That's what bothers me.

My brain is going to melt like ice cream that's been left out in the sun for too long.

But I mean like

That’s exactly how I felt about him in the crossover game but you were fine then and in anime. What’s the deal?

@Amber: Tevish's countdown is 4 days away. Why bother being concerned when we don't know anything else about it and it isn't close? You're welcome to actually inquire about it to him as opposed to waving your hands over it.

it's not anything we'd expect to see normally, and i wasn't sure if anyone else had pointed it out

@tevish anything you can tell us about the countdown or

I'm counting down to the deadline as given by the mod, that's all. The lynch deadline, to be specific; CS deadline was 24 hours earlier. I might be 1 hour off thanks to Daylight Savings Time

@KoD: I'm not particularly wedded (pun intended) to voting Funnier towards the Crystal Skeleton date, but I wanted a competing CS-Wagon to Rubik's and knew funnier had at least one vote. Plus, he hadn't really tripped any scummy feelings for me. Far too early to say he really "reads as town" especially when I don't know his playstyle, but close enough for present CS-voting needs

~~~
Having quickly read over the last few pages, I'm very tempted to jump on the HW wagon. It honestly baffles me that someone in an online mafia game, which is nothing but reading, and is best solved by careful reading, would voice a disinterest in reading and hostility to writing.
Players should explain their reads and their reasoning in detail. That way, we can go back and analyze those details in the light of new developments. Single sentence soundbite posts aren't nearly as useful for town because they don't give us half as much insignt into the thoughts and feelings of the poster involved. They don't cause scum to have to find a plausible excuse for their behavior, don't give us material for cross-examination, don't allow us to find half as many contradictions or fallacies... you get the idea. They're better than lurking, but more should be encouraged, not discouraged.
3 days, 23 hours, 57 minutes remain
Why aren't you voting there if youre very tempted
Weighing in, I have to agree that not wanting to read in a Mafia game is definitely not a productive mindset at all. I don't mind policy lynching someone with that mindset since it can only be detrimental for Town. So HW could end up getting my vote today unless they put more effort in. The Day has only just begun afterall.
Policy lynching is no
Sure I wouldn't mind being friends with mechanical benefits, but I'm not sure my character is the best person to settle down with. Not really that much depth to him.
CS Vote: KoD
Why KoD
Because KoD is protecting Rubik.
And lmao did you remove your vote on me to OMGUS, KoD? c’mon fite me
What?
OK, first time through I missed Minish's post.
Minish wrote:
There is an absolute fallacy in this thinking, and it is this: an Innocent Child is a role that is publicly confirmed to be town. By the time you posted, we had been told directly that Aaarrrgh's alignment was NOT mod-confirmed.
UNVOTE; VOTE: Minish
Oh hey, we get town-tevish this game!
Also guessing this is already addressed but in case it hasn't: required tik on the time before lynch line?
HW knows better. Using me as an excuse to not read is not excusable.
I am not an excuse.
@ExLight:
I don't agree with anything you're saying.
Specifically, if you keep everything lined up when addressing thoughts, I'm following Rubik wrt to you because you jumping him about his role was scummy. As far as Rubik wanting the CS to date him, that progression, for me, is at a point where Rubik comes off more as townie to me than as scummy (especially if we're using you as the bar for scummy if you know what I mean). If you think Rubik is scum (which I assume would revolve around his role as that is what you attacked him over) that's your thing. Not mine.
@funnier:
What exactly are you asking me with that first thought? Because my thought on Minish revolves around that particular post Minish made, as I've already stated. Whether or not Minish is truly an IC is something for another time as there is nothing else to go on (indeed if anything even happens as, again, it was a knee-jerk reaction to her post).
If other people nominate me for the CS, that's one thing. Me putting myself out there is another. My CS vote is already on JD though (and truly he deserves it anyway).
Duly noted.
Preview Edit:
@ExLight:
Wouldn't it be OMGUS if he voted me, then I voted him in response? Because that's not what happened. You'd know that from reading the posts.
Can you quote what post of mine that was so I can see the context of your answer?
Agreed, getting a good town vibe from Minish.
