Sai says, "Of course. Apologies for any unpleasantness. Quai, would you be so kind as to grab a crate. I am sure Chen would be happy to take your spear."
Keeping his eye on the captain, he fetches one crate, gives a short bow, then walks backwards for a few steps before heading away from town.
Swift Snake stands still, his eyes are fixed on the guardsmen and woman, his hands remain relaxed by his sides, his spear half rests on his shoulder and even his breathing is difficult to notice. Swift Snake could as easily be a statue rather than a living being. As the wind shifts his robes he breaks his silence
"What exactly are you accusing us of?"
His voice is clear, sober and firm with no hint of fear or threat in it. He could have been saying hi for all it mattered.
This was not a challenge, just the stance of someone not willing to be bullied around by anyone. These people would have to understand that it was in their interest to help them out rather than oppose them.
OOC
Swift Snake isn't trying to intimidate the guards he just wants to gather some info, as well as not being accustomed to succumb to intimidation as I wrote above. If non the less you want an intimidation roll here goes: Intimidation Roll
Tagai sighs and runs a hand through his dirty hair. "I know I told you all last night that you were free to return in the morning. But after you—" He nods at Sai Yun"—left, three...thugs showed up. It was clear they were looking for you all, though they couldn't be specific about their quarry. They hurt Ah Moon pretty bad, and I don't need more people getting hurt if they come back for you. As it is, we're barely keeping Ah Moon stable."

Sai stops and turns around. His brows are furrowed and his eyes fill with pain.
"I am sorry. I realize I am in no position to ask, but if someone was hurt for my or our sakes, I would ask that I be allowed to make some amends. If I might see the wounded, I may be able to help in their recovery."
With the new turn of events Swift Snake turns to Chen Wu "We should go fetch Hon Yin" he whispers.
With their pursuers so close it seemed better to reunite the group. Sai Yun seemed safe enough with the town watch for now. He turns to Sai Yun waiting to see if he agrees.
Tagai assents and walks back to the inn. The swordsman will take up the rear behind those who follow the head watchman. Within, a small hearthfire disperses the morning cold. A tiefling watches impassively as she spoons hot rice porridge into bowls for two men at the counter. Tagai pushes open a door into a small room on the first floor. A cluttered table sits against one wall, a map tacked to the wall above it. Against another wall, under a curtained window, is a small bed where a woman lies, unconscious. It is the guard with the crossbow from last night. A woolen blanket is pulled over her torso.
"This is Ah Moon," says Tagai. "One of the brutes ran her through with his sword. It must have been enchanted because it burned through her armor and even cauterized her wound a little. That may be why she still lives, for now."
Those leaving to meet Hon Yin
Stares follow the retreating backs of the adventurers as they follow the river back up to the forest yet again. The journey is now familiar for them.
Hon Yin
Hon Yin glimpses a great sea of stars and light beyond, where a dark cloud rapidly approaches him in the shape of a majestic bird. It beats rain-heavy wings and lightning lines it while the glow of the red summer sun burns a corona around it.

What Sai does
Sai follows the men closely, though his eyes pause on the tiefling behind the counter. He shudders slightly and then turns his attention to Ah Moon.
Kneeling beside her, he removes his gloves and begins to pray in Elvish, "Tsusaki, let your love flow through me and heal this one who has been wronged".
He puts his hands on her and lets the power flow out of him.
Chen Wu follows Swift Snake out of town with a expression of relief in his face. "The less time I spend inside this town the better." He comments once they are far enough to not be heard by anyone else.

As Swift Snake turns to leave he says with his usual calm voice "Should Sai Yun be harmed in any way, you won't live long enough to regret it." He then follows Chen Wu towards camp. As they close on the forest he looks for tracks that might suggest the presence of their persuers. "Could the man with the sword be an Elladrin? And if so, why should he be interested in any of this?" he thinks to himself.
Chen's words bring him out of his revelry. "Interesting times breed caution" he remarks.
Actions and Rolls
Perception Roll for tracks:
drvonwolfen rolled 1d20+5 and got a total of 21:
As we close on camp or if we should find tracks I try to approach as stealthily as possible. If no cover can be found at least I want to be silent Stealth Roll:
The room seems to darken as twinkling light pours out of Sai Yun and into Ah Moon. Color returns to her skin and she begins to breathe more easily. Her eyes open and she immediately sits up. The woolen cover falls to reveal her naked torso, bloodied bandages wrapped around her abdomen.
"Ah Moon!" cries out [b]Tagai, and he rushes forward to support her.
Swift Snake Perception
Swift Snake can see multiple sets of footprints going to and from the forest along the river. The footprints are embedded in the wet earth of the riverbank.
Tracking beyond perceiving indicators of human passage (like footsteps) is a Wisdom (Survival) roll.

Spoiler
Sai stands and puts his gloves back on. "She may still need to heal some, but she should no longer be in immediate danger, thanks to the love of Tsusaki. I will take my leave now. I hope this brings us closer to even.
"Before I go, however, I do have a question... the men who did this. Can you describe them?"
Swift Snake looks at the footprints more. They match his own steps and those of his companions.
Sai Yun
While the swordsman tries to keep Ah Moon in bed, Tagai leads Sai Yun to the main room of the inn to tell him more.
After Sai Yun, Hon Yin, and Chen Wu left, three men arrived on horseback. At least two of them were obviously mages of some sort, while the third wielded the enchanted sword and seemed to be in charge. They immediately disarmed Ah Moon and then demanded to know if anyone had come into town that night from Ceonling. The guards had denied knowing anything, but one of the mages, a man with long black hair in a topknot, locked eyes with Gugu, the swordsman in the other room. Gugu, enchanted, revealed that three men came into town from the north earlier but not by road and that they had left after refusing to surrender their weapons.
Ah Moon pushed the mage away, breaking the spell, but she was immediately run through by the lithe one with his short sword. Tagai and Gugu moved to fight them but the second mage, built larger and bald, threw a flurry of blinding lights out and the three escaped in the confusion, back up the road to Ceonling.
Finishing his story, Tagai notes, "And when they demanded we answer their questions, they invoked the name of some 'Lord Daigam'." In all, fifteen minutes have passed.
Hon Yin
In some trick of perspective, the storm bird does not loom larger as it approaches, remaining the same size as Hon Yin's chant continues to hold the veil apart. He reaches out with a hand and the bird alights gently onto it. The red-yellow corona, bright lightning, and dark clouds have come together in the bright plumage of a golden pheasant. The forest and river returns around Hon Yin. The celestial spirit in the form of a pheasant chirps pleasantly.
Chen Wu and Swift Snake
[i]As Chen Wu and Swift Snake finish the mile back to the tree line, they come upon Hon Yin with a gold and red pheasant in hand. Red light seems to burn slowly around it, and lightning arcs along its feathers intermittently. It is clearly magical in nature.
