Agamemnon looks first to the steep stairs before him, then to Thibor and then to the stairs again. "Ha! An impressive feat of athletic prowess from our companions to make it to the top of such a steep thing. How about it Thribor? You want to go next? Don't worry - should you fall you shall land safely in the arms of Agamemnon, Catcher of the Fallen. In fact I insist you try next! Why if I were to climb up first and then you were to fall I would never be able to forgive myself for letting that happen! I beg of you master dwarf, do not let that burden lie upon this poor souls shoulders. You must climb! I can even help you with the first few feet if you require."

"Each day you are more full of yourself. Take care, my friend. You could be afflicted by your overconfidence later." Thibor turns to warn Agamemnon first. "But I appreciate you letting me to go first. In this is way if I fall on water, I will have someone to rescue me from it. I would prefer to fall over jagged rocks than water."

Then he turns to the rope to test it. Thibor looks up and tries to remember something that can help him during the climb. "Are you ready up there?" He yells before initiating the deadly climb.

Graydon shouts down, "Ready when you are!" He turns and addresses Jiardem, saying, "I'll help pull the dwarf up, and if he begins to slip or fall, latch onto me and our combined weight should stop his plummet. In the mean time, keep alert. I thought I saw something darting between the spikes below, so it's possible we're not alone here."

Thibor manages to reach the top of the stairs, but not without a scare before. He thought he would fall when he lost a step at the beginning of the climb. Luckily he didn't fall, but the history of his life flashed in his mind when he thought he would fall. 30 feet would barely scratch him, but the sea below...

He doesn't want to think about it anymore. "Let's help the next one, now!"

Quinn cracks his knuckles. "I guess that makes it my turn." He looks up the long rope and gulps. Grabbing the climbing gear he sets to work on the long climb. He doesn't climb particularly fast, but manages to at least be efficient. Before too long has passed he finds himself at the top without too much trouble.

First Mate Alan Cross looks to Agamemnon. "I'll go next." Then, turning to the young boy, Billy, "Stay here and mind the boat. If we're not back before nightfall, go back to the ship and report us lost." Then he motions the two muscle men to follow as he climbs the rope with ease.

Agememnon takes a few deep breaths and stretches out his limbs a little while watching the other steadily progress higher and higher up the imposing stairs. As the last figure covers the final step and disappears from view he takes a final breath and, eyes half closed, rushes the stair well, grabs onto the rope supports and begins pulling himself up with all the speed he can muster. In his haste he misses several of the steps and nearly falls a half dozen times and by the time he reaches the top he has barely a single eye open and is shouting at the top of his lungs. Having finally reached horizontal ground he falls to his knees and clutches towards the grass all the while refusing to release even an inch of the rope.

Quinn chuckles. "You made it!" Noticing Agamemnon's distress. "Problem with heights, my friend? Too bad we're not done with them yet," he says, gesturing to the rickety bridge that stretches across the canyon before them.

Agamemnon looks up at Quinn and follows his gesture to the bridge. His face notably twitches for a moment before he lets out a low moan.

Graydon falls onto his bottom, wiping the sweat off his brow and slowly coiling up the slack rope. "Easy as a kobold on kolbanukah! he grins, finishing coiling the rope and eyeing the bridge. "I figure I'll cross it first, and we can anchor one end of the rope on this side, and when I make it to the other side, I'll anchor the other end of the rope. For insurance, of course. In the mean time, keep your peepers peeled for any activity below--I saw a shape darting on the ground. Who knows what monsters the isle contains. Sound good?" He stands, cracking his knuckles and back bone.

Quinn gestures. "By all means. The bridge is yours."

Graydon nods, and begins looking for a method to anchor the rope.

Graydon spots a boulder near the cliff's precipice, and begins lashing the length of rope around it, keeping the harness he created for himself attached to his torso. "OK fellows, I'll make my way across the bridge. Keep an eye out for anything swooping down on me, jumping up at me, or, you know, the general horror and chaos we expect just by being here." He gives a mock salute, and begins carefully crossing the narrow bridge, uncoiling the rope in his hands to match the length of each step.

The old rope and plank bridge clearly hasn't been used in a few decades. It sways with each step. Fortunately for Graydon, the air is eerily still. There is a distinct smell of sulphur at about the midpoint and a feeling of queasiness, but it passes. Graydon makes it to the other side without incident.

Good old rock, how I missed you! Thibor says after kissing the ground. He stands up, looks at the bridge and his whereabouts carefully before proceeding over the rope bridge with his hands firmly holding Graydons rope.

My turn now.

Thibor, in turn, makes his way across the bridge safely. Quinn volunteers to go next, and the three sailors follow suit. Jiardem and Agamemnon have yet to cross.

"Seems this bridge isn't nearly as precarious as it looks. I made it across no problem. Then again, I was being careful and slow. I'd hate to have to cross this thing in a hurry..."

Jiardem, after a period of silent focus on helping the others to the top, imagines a stray blade cutting into the bridge. He shudders at the possibility of it being his own and double checks to make sure his sword is sheathed, even if he knows it is unlikely he would pull it out in such a situation.

"On top of this I'll be cursing myself for not preparing one simple spell... Well, not really simple, but that's besides the point. Because its not the fall that kills you it's the sudden stop, and I have a spell that could help make that stop not so sudden... I just said that all aloud didn't I?"

With an embarrassed silence he started crossing the bridge.

With the exception of a brief pause at the middle, Jiardem too safely crosses the gap.

"You know I take it back, I am very glad I did not prepare a spell like that, or have certain spells in my spellbook. Some sort of enchantment hangs in the air to prevent arcane aerial maneuvers... Like I said, very glad," Jiardem says with a sheepish grin and purple eyes wide open.

Seeing that he is the only one who has yet to cross Agamemnon creeps towards the cliff side and peers over the edge; an action he immediately regrets as he takes in the brutal spikes below and the massive plummet which proceeds them. Jumping back he look at the rickety bridge and briefly considers heading back to the ship - though the thought is chased away when he realizes he would still have to climb back down the cliff to reach it. "Oh come on Agamemnon it just a stupid bridge. Master Cruxholder made it across and he is at least twice your weight. You can do this!" Moving forward with a little more bounce in his step the gith takes the ropes firmly in each hand and begins moving across the bridge, stopping at each and every swing, creak and groan from the thing.

After what feels like an eternity, Agamemnon safely reaches the other side. The party reunited, they proceed to the other edge of the giant rock wall that they stand on top of. 50 feet below stretches the grassy field that fills the inside of the stone barrier. Either perspective is playing tricks on all of you, or the inside of this island is significantly smaller than the outside.

The only landmark of note in this field is a giant mound: a hill right at the centre. Atop this hill are large jet black boulders, each bigger than a person. Together, and visible only at this height, they form an eerie looking death face that seems to smile at you.

A very narrow staircase winds around the contour from where you stand to the field below.
