One day left to submit your mill decks!

Sorry for the late questioning, but I just started thinking about this tonight.

Is the above to say all other wincons other than Live <= 0 are still in effect, or is this it say all other wincons other than draw-from-empty-library are disabled.

I really have no idea if poison or "You win the game" effects are in play or not.

Wow, poison completely slipped my mind somehow.

Let's do it this way: Damage and poison don't work, but everything else does.

Round 41 Spreadsheet!

What happened to the scoresheet? Best as I can tell Hello World's line was filled out... then it was un-filled. Now there are three lines filled out, but Hello's isn't, and it was the first line filled when I first viewed the sheet!

I believe it was filled out right and was the winning deck, too. 6-0 against everyone save for 2-2 against door. Which edges out my 6-0 against everyone except 0-6 against Hello.

I got a suspicion that I could not use the familiar with an empty library, so I removed my scores.

You can. Your scored were probably correct.

Also, I think my match against Aaarrrgh should be 0-6. Szadek can't win* until turn four and Grindstone wins* on turn three.

*Win having a slightly looser meaning here, since the win is always delayed until the next draw step. Same idea, though.

The ruling on Abundance says.

"If your library is empty, Abundance can prevent you from losing the game for being unable to draw a card. If an effect or turn-based action would cause you to draw a card, you can replace that draw with Abundance's replacement effect. (It doesn't matter that you'd be unable to actually draw a card.) "

I expect the same extrapolates to Obstinate Familiar - an "If you would draw" clause does not actually care whether there is a card in the library to be drawn.

Point of clarification: Am I right in assuming that we start the game with only our 3 cards in hand, and all the lands in our library?
Not that it actually matters, but it does make my game with Jim a bit tighter, as I only win on turn 4 on the play. It also means that in 1v5 it is always the player who goes second who wins, which I just find funny.

That's what I've assumed though it does raise the curious point of what exactly happens in a restarted Karn match. A person who has one card from hand exiled and two lands exiled starts with, say, 2 cards in hand and 35 lands in library?


Hello, you match v Door is marked a 3-3, but I think it's a 2-2. When Door's on the play he can't do anything T1 so you'll always get to play Night Terrors play or draw. But the fact is if you don't NT away the Helix Pinnacle, it will win. So you NT away the Pinnacle and then you each cast a permanent that allows you to skip draw (with Elfhame Sanctuary, door can search for a basic land, choose not to find one, and still not draw, so deck never depletes). Nobody draws, so everybody draws. Or something.

Correct, each player starts with just their three "main" cards in hand, so the player who goes second actually has an advantage in certain cases.

For the Karn scenario, let's just say you still only get your "main" cards, minus whatever Karn took. You don't get to fill in the gaps with basics from your library.

Well I haven't gotten all the unban choices, but I really want to get this round started, so I guess I'll just pick them myself.

Format: WUBRG
At the start of the game, add to each player's mana pool. This mana doesn't empty from pools as steps and phases end. At the beginning of each player's upkeep, add one mana to that player's mana pool of each color not already in his or her pool. Mana can't be added to mana pools from other sources.

Also, I just realized I allowed a banned card in Round 40 (Loxodon Smiter), but it's far too late now to do anything about that, so oops!

I only have three decks, so it looks like we're extending the deadline.

Knowledge pool looks like a headache to calculate.

So I had four decks on Monday before I left town, and now that I'm back, I have... four decks.
