To be clear, KoD and numbers are correct in that I will not use my NLP to try and deceive you (goes against the spirit of the thing). That being said, if you jump to conclusions or misinterpret something I've said (which, while true, may not be the complete truth), then I won't always jump to correct your misinterpretation (though usually I will).

Woo. If we're going to kill me let's do it proper.

Unvote, vote: Zinge2099

Zinger - Rubik, Rubik, Rubik, KoD, Numbers, Niklor, Scarlet, Neo, Mown, Turin, Fruit, Zinger (12)

Fruit steps forward and hammers the final stake into zinger's body. The seemingly impervious man begins to bleed. Has he finally been killed? But it is not blood seeping from his wounds. It is power. Ancient, terrible power. What once were cries of struggles are now quiet chuckling. Zinger smirks.

What have you done...?

"It has been one hundred trillion millenia since last I reigned. My rule has long been forgotten by the eldest of immortals. It has long disappeared from the scriptures of the most hermetic societies. Ignorance is truly your sin today, and you will have an eternity to repent it."

Zinger stands up, calmly removing the stakes nailed into his body. As he does so, his flesh falls from his body to the ground as mud. Eventually, all that remains of Zinger is a golden lock, pierced through completely by Fruit's stake, and then, it too falls apart. The sky grows dark, and thunder and laughter fill the sky. The earth is split asunder as streams of blood snake their way around the stunned spectator's feet. The sun convulses and contorts into a hideous thing. The thing begins speaking. It is clear who it is.

"Let all the world know! Today, Set rules again!"

Zinger has been lynched, he was, is, and always will be Set, Self Aligned Sealed God

Role PM

The game has ended. Zinger is the sole winner.

For a second there I didn't think we were going to pull that one off. :shifty:

Of course you realize my victory is still quicker than yours.

I'd like to apologize for anyone who feels slighted by the way this game ended.

here's a rough copy of the design file, not sure if its missing anything.

Spoiler

I have various feelings about the design of the game and how it ended up playing out, but I think I'm happy with it.

When I designed the jester role, I decided that if someone could get a consensus of votes on day 1, they probably deserved the win. I may have overestimated the difficulty of such a feat. There are certainly a number of things I'd change about the design if i was given the opportunity. I was specifically a little unhappy with myself in designing Number's role, Myriad. I disallowed communication about the game outside the thread to avoid some abuse cases. This also prevented people from dragging their friends into the game, although that wasn't obvious, and the role would have been more fun if that was possible. Anyway, I digress.

My feelings on the game are still a little undecided, but I think I have learned from this experience and hope I can provide a better experience in the future.

An informative game, nonetheless.

On my role, I think it was great. It essentially turned the hydra concept into a role, and not allowing discussion outside of the thread was somewhat negligible. I was currently already contemplating recruiting Eli as an outside of thread recruiter, since he'd technically be a non-player and therefore not bound by the rules of the game. Naturally if I had chosen this path I would have cleared it as non violating of the rules first.

As for Zinger's win, I would say it's well deserved because for anybody else I don't think it would have been as possible to achieve day 1 (Zinger had specific assets available to him and he employed them tactfully to achieve an early victory). Anybody else going into day 3, however, would pretty much have it in the bag by claiming to be scum after that point. A 10 player game has a natural assumption of two scum, making day 3 a standard LyLo situation assuming no scum deaths. This would leave 6 players and the scum win con would put them winning at the beginning of the next day. One could claim and if it was LyLo circumvent scum not voting for you (as I'm sure they'd be super suspicious of the situation); if you didn't trip your lynch normally ability you could then make up some bs and continue to mock town knowing it's not lylo yet but still be at the forefront of people's suspicions without having to worry about abilities. I would not be surprised to see the same outcome later in the game regardless. To even this role out I probably would have made him semi-immune to kills either by percent chance to die, or limited bulletproofing.

Apparently, our "modkill" would've circumvented his invincibility. Potentially, the mafia might've dealt with him if there had been solid town dissent on the idea of piling votes on him.

Shame it was such a "we have to vote Zinger or look like total scum" situation.

Dominus' modkill would have bypassed Zinger's NK immunity and represented the only way to safely remove him from the game. Town and Mafia both could have won with him still alive, though.

I did indeed like the idea behind myriad. I just felt the execution was sloppier than it could have been. I think Niklor had a similar idea concerning eli. At least, I told him that I didn't require non-players to follow the rules, in response to a line of questioning he had involving the mechanic.

Can I stop pretending that Zinger won't use his NLP for misleading people now?
also, I'm really sad I didn't get to use my web developer skills together with my role for the lulz.

a local news reporter has been eavesdropping during the night.

I dont understand why roles like this arent incidental to the game as a whole.

Like, Zinger is lynched, Zinger wins, the game now enters night 1. I always feel individual win cons that arent 'everyone else dies' should be logged, then the game continues.

I like the feeling that the player is playing against the other players in the game rather than with them. If zinger can potentially win alongside any other player in the game, it detracts from the feeling that he is competing with them.

I guess I go for the 'as many people as possible have a good time' outlook. In that sense, Zinger still actively plays against everyone, and gets his satisfying win, but in the example of say, him winning day 1, everyone else doesnt feel like the game was a waste/letdown because 90% of their roles made zero impact.

You could have made it something like, "if Zinger achieves his win condition, dead players can't win the game". That way, it's in everyone's best interest for him to die, but he doesn't make the game end prematurely.
