If DCG will allow, I'd like John to give the sunrod to Kod and leave the party to report the situation to Lieutenant Thornton, asking for reinforcements to follow the paladin's lead and a pay raise in the process. Meanwhile John will go home to have dinner and say hi to his family.

As you continue down the left corridor, you begin to hear the sound of rushing water moreso than usual. Eventually, you catch sight of a large iron grate set into the wall in front of you. Its openings are too small for anything Gnome-sized or larger to get through. Up above you, you see a shaft of light and you believe you are directly under the bakery, for in a corner a rat snuffles at some garbage, squeeking. This must have been the sound you heard. It is at this moment that you feel something disgusting and slimy grasp at your leg. You look down to see a big, gray blob of stinking puss. It's so terrible-smelling that you take -2 to attack rolls. After its attack, the slimy thing oozes back from you (shift 2 squares).

Urza didnt add a modifier to his roll and it makes me wonder if Im not understanding my character sheet right...

Long story short, your commanding officer tells you that the reason they used mercenaries in the first place was they hadn't the soldiers to spare. He scoffs at the idea of a pay raise.

I've been kind of oblivious as to what's been transpiring in the game, but I think I have some vague sense of it now.

John's initiative: 18

On my turn, I run twice towards Kod from the sewer entrance, moving 14 squares, which leaves one square between me and Kod according to the map. Until my next turn, I have -10 to attack rolls, and enemies attacking me have combat advantage.

vs. Fort

Acid damage, and -2 penalty to Fortitude (cumulative; save ends).

I am bad at things. I dont totally understand combat, and the map wont load for me. I want to move to the edge of range, then use Sky flourish () with my Hand Crossbow.

Roll 1d20 and add 1/2 your level (0), your proficiency bonus (in the phb weapon chart),your Dexterity modifier, and whatever else it says you add in the power. That's to see if you hit. The d6 is damage.
