It doesn't have any less facts than mafia though. Arguably more.

I think mafia has more. Every player death reveals facts - so-and-so was X alignment. The only facts revealed here are, "at least one of [insert set of names] is a Spy."

That person isn't a part of the game any longer though. The only fact is that you're either closer or further away from winning. Anything he posted is just his reads and interactions, they aren't fact any more than interactions in this game is. He might have had a role, but those can exist in this game as well.

Assuming a lynched or killed player has no role that actively reveals information, his death doesn't provide any factual information towards the game state.

It's called practice Zherog :p
I think Zherog is right that mafia has more information, but I don't think i has 'that' much more information (besides the less fun factor if you are the first one NK'd / Lynched), and this is how I figure.

With mafia, person dies and you get their role and alignment. They can't talk anymore (except in some cases). Connections between people become more obvious later in the game.

With Resistance, nobody dies, but you get what missions failed and when (and in some cases how many failed it). They can continue to talk and pretend to scum hunt which can throw off data, and connections become muddled depending on how "caught" spies act.

The only reason why I think Mafia has "more" information is because of the dead is dead rule. In resistance they can continue talking, muddle vote counts, and mess with people long after being discovered. And worse, if only suspected, can do as they please.

Really, you just need to approach the two games differently given how the information is layed out, not say that one gives more information than the other. Mown is also REALLY good at this game from what I can tell.

the problem with no one dying, though, is you get people in Aaargh's position, where everyone is positive you're a spy, and you just get locked out. in mafia, if everyone's sure you're scum you get lynched and then stop participating, but Resistance forces you to keep engaging in a thing while everyone is actively ignoring every attempt at contribution. it did not appear that Aaargh was having fun, but in order to not screw over his team he had to just keep trying.

All is forgiven. I know that it is an unfortunate side effect of the game mechanics, and I also knew that I could probably have avoided it if I had been more active in the early game. All in all; busy schedule + inviting the wrong people on a mission = bad time. If nothing else, I learned not to take two of the most active and vocal players with me on a blind mission, unless I can be as active and vocal as they are. I believe that was my undoing.

Traditionally, that is solved by the game only lasting 15 minutes. One of the issues of porting it to PBP I suppose, where the elimination in Mafia isn't as huge of a deal any more as it is in meatspace games.

Eh, I don't really think so. Put me as a normal rebel and I'm probably going to be rather bewildered as well.
I like to believe I'm a pretty decent spy though, but I wouldn't count this game. As I've said previously, I believe 9 player games are too easy. However, I didn't play it with a rebel perspective, so I'm not sure what theory I would have gotten if I did.

Merlin was actually pretty difficult, I don't know how to play him properly. As you know, aaarrrgh would have guessed me, resulting in a loss. I don't know if I played it well or not.
The game before that, Shockwave stacked the odds in his favor, and I only needed one more mission to go down. BH accusing me from literally turn 1 made me a little anxious, especially because he did it for all the wrong reasons, so I won't chalk that up to a mistake on my part.

I mean, yeah, my track record is pretty good. But then again, I've had complete knowledge of the game state in all of them. You've yet to see me as a lost little rebel threatening to punch people in the face if they're lying to me (this is a thing that has happened.)

So, is someone going to run a 4th game? I had fun and would like to play again!

Sounded like aaarrrgh had plans, but if not, I can probably arrange one.

I want to run one, but won't have time to do it for several weeks, so if someone else wants to run a game in between, feel free to do so.
