So, lately, I've been binging on Pokemon games like mad, mostly spinoffs. And then I started playing the mystery dungeon games again, and those games are god tier spinoffs. And I'd like to take the concept and apply it to a roleplaying game, if at all possible. I don't know which of the systems I'm going to use, but I'm gonna do an interest check right now because the concept is either hit or miss and I'm planning to have it be a hit. So, if you're interested, leave a reply to this and we can figure things out.

Well I've been in the last three Pokemon RPG's we've run. Might as well make it four.

That's two.
Also potentially PTA because its the system I'm most familiar with.
Looking into other systems, but I'm glad there's interest.

Given the OP I thought you wanted to roleplay the pokemans, not trainers.
Anyway, there's cky's homebrew that you could check out. It's a lot less crunchy, not that I know too much about PTA.
There's also PTU, which I know equally little about.

Edit: Wait you played in that game I am dumb.

PTU is basically PTA 2nd Edition.

Mostly built to give trainers a little more flexibility about what they can do, step away from the D&D stuff (Attribute Line etc) and solve some rule issues (trainers getting increased ATK when not having an ATK stat). It's good but more complex then PTA was by quite a bit.

CKY's game is fun, but the reason I suggested PTA is because the stats they have for Pokemon are solid, and I like how the game plays a lot more. Nothing against CKY's game at all, I enjoyed the brief time I was in it. I would also consider PTU because I've been in a short PTU game and i enjoyed it.

So I think I've made a decision to use the Pokemon Sheets from PTA for the game and just run the PTA system but slightly adjusted for Mystery Dungeon.
I'd like one more player before I start, but I can work with two if you guys don't mind two people for the time being. I plan to make the game way more roleplaying based than dice rolling based.
Is there any objections to the system, or does this sound good to you guys? Because I could definitely play CKY's game or PTU, I'd just like to try PTA.

I have no knowledge on PTA, so I cannot make a compelling argument either way, other than stating that I probably like narrative rulesets better for online games. As much as I've heard complaints about PTA about being clunky, I can't pretend that I was enamored with cky's ruleset either. I'll give it a read-over if I have the time.
tl;dr: *shrug*

What does it mean to be slightly adjusted for Mystery Dungeon? Aren't all those games trainer-centric, and Mystery Dungeon pokemon-centric?

PTA is more trainer-centric, but it can be easily run with no trainers and just pokemon. It can be run way easier that way, honestly. Way easier.
The trainer system is my biggest issue with PTA to be honest, I love how simple Pokemon are... Minus base relations. Which I AM TERRIBLE AT EXPLAINING BECAUSE IT JUST FEELS STUPID. If you need a link, http://pokemontabletop.wikidot.com

The site lacks the XY Update, though, but the update files are easy to get.

Interested, even though I couldn't stand the mystery dungeon series for one reason or another.
Shame that last game kinda fell apart.

Yeah, this game will hopefully not fall apart like the last one I ran did. I'm much more invested in Mystery Dungeon to be honest, it's one of my favorite Pokemon spin-offs if not my favorite.

I'll set up an OOC page now, I'll post the character creation rules in there.
