Y'all are still playing Mafia on this very-falsely-advertised forum? I had bet myself that this community would crumble inside of two months after I stopped checking it. Guess I lost, but also won? That's what happens when you make bets with yourself. Anywayz with a z, last year I ran a game here called "M0nster's Cute Mafia Game of Cute Lil' Monsters". Perhaps you played in it? Nah, **** waiting.
The crux of the game was that each player played a cute lil' monster like me, each with their own alignment and win condition. Winning, like any good Mafia game, required teamwork... A difficult thing to do when nobody had any teammates! But that was easily fixed with some convenient plot devices. And by plot devices I mean night powers. Also, there were a set of seven legally distinct Chaos Emeralds which made things even more chaotic and thereby more fun. Votes were not public, and a significant part of the fun (at least for me) was in watching you fools try to play a game while having not the faintest idea what kind of shenanigans you were ultimately playing against. Thems the breaks of closed setups. Tough cookies.
But what if I told you things didn't have to go down that way? What if I told you it was possible to play the same exact game, with the same exact setup, only this time the setup is open and all the possible roles are publicly known before the game even begins. Would the outcome be drastically different if players went into it fully informed? Or will the homogenous (and sticky) Green Cult win all over again, proving once and for all that forewarned is not in fact forearmed? I don't know! And that's reason enough for me to run this sequel, which like all great Hollywood sequels, rehashes the same exact plot points of the first film but in a slightly different order.

Update: We now have 10 players, which means the paused countdown clock on Night 0 has officially begun. Better hurry and confirm you read the rules and your role (instructions in your role pm), and then use any Night 0 abilities you want to fire off, because Day 1 comes soon. If anybody else would LILKE to sign-up to this thing, I'll accept players above and beyond the minimum of 10 as long as they sign up before Night 0 ends.

A. Sign up anyway, I could probably make an 11th role on the spot.
