Adventurers wanted: Inquire details at the Rusty Spork Tavern Been a while since this site hosted anything D&d related and maybe it is time to change that with a bit of a hosted adventure here on NGA. Not going to look for anything campaign related, going to challenge myself to write something on the fly. Want to be the heroes, monster hunters, or a group of thieves? I'll see if I can roll with what you throw at me, serious, wacky, or anything in between. As a note I as the DM possess only the core 5th edition books (PHB, MM, and DMG) but as long as you don't throw anything two crazy at me I'll work with other material too. To begin create some level 2 characters with starting gear and I will gift each player an item appropriate to the build. Any alignment is fine, just no PVP, you have to at least work together. Will be waiting to see what happens. |

I don't own any of the books. Which is too bad, because I'd like to play. |

Same, although I did use a character creator to put something together on D&D beyond, so if there's more interest I can stumble through with that. My D&D experience is limited to **** around in high school almost twenty years ago so yeah. <_< |

FYI, if you're all into this, I have some PDFs that you may be interested in if you don't own the books. Just send me a message and I can hook you up. |

At the very least if you want I can work out suggestions of what you want to play out into some character sheets. Builds are pretty streamlined in 5th edition. |

Ok, hear me out: Half-orc Bard. But not a silly little dancer or musician. No, a bard like the warrior poets of old. A bard who not only uses his charisma to inspire his companions to greatness, but uses it to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies. |

Actually, now that Naga helped me get access to the PHB, I've discovered that the entertainer background also covers gladiators. So that's what I want to do. A pit fighter who has trained his entire life to not only fight, but to fight in a way which entertains. His spells are all creative insults shouted at opponents. |

I guess my enthusiasm for this is fairly pointless if no one else is playing, though. |

D&D beyond has a fair amount of the player's handbook and is sanctioned by wotc. 5e.tools has everything, but you will make wotc upset. |

So an entertainer Gladiator type? Nice. I can work with that. Vikings? Sure! Raid, pillage, or something else, may even toss in a Giant named Andre or something. If that is a hint of interest I see from you two. |

I'm actually thinking of making him a bard with a single level in Monk, just so he can fight without armor. Because every time things are about to go down, he rips his shirt apart. Like, at the slightest hint of provokation, just *riiip* "You want a piece of this?! Huh?!" Or is that too much? |

That actually isn't too much. Multiclassing is fine. Now I will offer this up as an option and just list pros and cons to let you decide, but as of 5e there is an options to use Barbarian levels and gain a variant unarmored defense from that. That said can only get the feature from one class. You can still get the other features though. Barb: use constitution as part of your ac and be able to use shields without penalty to this defense. Comes with rage, but that additional feature doesn't mix well (for the most part) with spells. Monk: Use wisdom to buff ac. Comes with ki abilities like flurry of blows as a bonus action after attack, dodge, or use a ki point to enhance movement for a disengage or dash with bonus jump distance. |

I had not seen the barbarian unarmored defense. Since I'm only taking one level (bard is going to be the core of the build), ki wouldn't really enter into it. So I think CON and a shield fits the concept better than WIS and unarmed strikes. Plus, while rage doesn't go well with spellcasting, it certainly is not a bad fit for a half-orc. I'll go with that instead. I basically have the whole build now, so even if this doesn't happen (but I hope it does), at least I had a lot of fun creating this character. |

Well if you are still up for it can at least start something and see if others wish to join later. Either way have enough of a character profile to build up a quick sheet to start, and will link you it for review. |

I've been putting together a sheet myself, but I'm happy to use yours. Entertainer background isn't included on the free version of D&D Beyond, so I'd have to put it in manually over there anyway. I've also been tinkering on a backstory. What works is this set in, and would you allow me to do some worksheet in my backstory? |
