So, I'm officially going to try and give this a shot! Any Wheel of Time fans out there?
I found this great document created by Jesse Jack Jones integrating Robert Jordan's world from the Wheel Of Time Series into PathFinder rules. I've spoken (via email) to Jesse and have gotten confirmation that I can not only use his document, but also add/modify as we see fit for use here.
While I feel like his setup is very complete, there's always things that can be added, mainly around magical items (Angreal, ter'angreal and sa'angreal) and with introducing new weaves.
So, while I have no plans to modify anything, I am open to any additions that people would be interested in.
This will be my first DM experience, so, I'm really looking for people who are willing to work with me
The 16 questions
1. What game system are you running? Pathfinder
2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)? Robert Jordan's world, the setting for the Wheel of Time, as converted into PF by Jesse Jack Jones
3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many? I'd be looking for anywhere from 3-5 players, willing to go more or less as requested. Alternates will be accepted if there's interest.
4. What's the gaming medium (NGA Forums, chat, e-mail etc.)? NGA forum.
5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)? Starting at level 1
6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with? 100 gold crowns
7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes? Only classes listed in this document
8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species? Only races listed in this document If you want to play as an Ogier, please PM me first. To start with, I would prefer all players to be one of the human cultures.
9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points? Roll - 4d6, re-roll 1's, take the best 3.
10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so? Yes - but please don't post your alignment, please provide that in PM.
11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it? Yes, again, as detailed in the document
12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them? Player rolls will be made by the player, either in the IC or OC threads
13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules. It's all (for now) in the PDF
14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)? Background is required. The starting adventure will be decided based on the players backgrounds.
15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above? My plan is for this to be mainly roleplaying, with some combat (of course) thrown in.
16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters? Just the standard PF stuff, plus the PDF (the PDF references many standard PF things)
So, let me know if there's any interest in this, and, if so, what you are looking to play. The plan is to have it set after Saidin is tainted, and before the cleansing. So, if you are a male channeler, you will (eventually) go insane. But hey, until you do, you're slightly more powerful.
It's likely going to take me a few weeks to get started on this, and, while I have a few ideas on where to start, it's really going to depend on what type of characters people want to play.
So, let me know what you think, and if people want to do this...
I should also add, while I've been doing some reading up on PF, I've never actually played...
