Could it be a different key instead? Like, while they were on the road his father let him hold on to the key to the cash box just because pickpockets and Roberts would be less likely to check the kid's pockets, and then he somehow managed to hold on to it through all his years of slavery, and it's the one thing he has to connect him to his father? That seems like a good trinket for the character.

There are two other trinket tables as well. Acquisitions Incorporated would give you 'A cup that hums when filled with water', and Elemental Evil corresponds to 'A miniature brass horn, silent when played, but fills the air with the scent of warm and exotic spices'.

Ooh, I like either of those a lot better. I think I'll go for the silent scented brass horn. It could be a thing his father was selling, so now he is always going to find someone who knows where they are made in order to find his family.

And now you have a trinket you like, AND have integrated it with your character's story.

Yeah. I'm not going to bother changing my sheet right now, but the next time I update it I'll add the trinket.

Luna, I'm just going to give you some food for thought, make of it what you will. I don't know the full picture of the campaign, and for all I know the gm could give you something like "you may cast warlock spells while wildshaped", multiclassing in 5e is somewhat precarious territory. You'll need to juggle half your spells using Wisdom and the other half using Charisma (you can circumvent this by prioritizing one stat and mostly casting buff spells with the other one), and spellcasters generally get their most powerful (and cool) tools at 5th level and above, which can quickly make you feel feeble for a large portion of the game. You also have to juggle two different spell lists, some known and some prepared, which is kind of annoying. You can get a familiar as druid with the Ritual Caster or Magic Initiate feat (you won't get two birds this way, but you're a druid, so you could also just speak with animals). Alternatively, you could reflavor the somewhat controversial Ravnica backgrounds to get access to Polymorph through Simic, Conjure Animals through Gruul, or assorted nature themed spells with Selesnya, while playing a Warlock.

That said, two levels of warlock gives you Hex and Agonizing Blast which can carry you through every combat encounter of an entire campaign, so you're free to do what you want. I just don't know if the sacrifices you are making are worth it just so you can do this very specific thing when you can preserve the overall aesthetic through other means.

Mown is referring to this:

Character concept

"Luna" is how we usually shorten Lord LunaEquie is me's username.

No worries. It can't be easy coming in to run a game like this when all of us players are already familiar with each other.

'TIS A LIE!!

Joking aside, Aaarrrgh already cleared up the confusion, so I'm glad for that. I didn't get on yesterday because I was at work for 10 hours and didn't have much time to do anything here.

To reply back over the feedback my first idea got, I'm rather not keen on being the offspring of an antagonist I don't know yet, and on top of that my first reaction to hearing "there's no level cap" was "u wot m8?" and I don't know if I want to try pushing even more levels into the Druid class when I'm supposed to have a fear of flying. That fear is also why I didn't go with a Kenku Rogue idea I had, because apparently that whole race's thing is trying to bring back their ability to fly.

So, instead, I looked into some polished homebrew classes and then went art hunting, and I think I've got an idea, provided you're okay with everything.

The class is called Keeper, and the author says it's his take on a "pet class," and though I'm not entirely sure I know what that means, the flavor is much more in line with what I'd like to be than either a Druid or a Warlock. It's essentially a shaman without going as :g: as a Druid or as :w: as a Cleric, if you understand the M:tG metaphor. It has a companion (that I will have to customize later) from the get-go, but said companion can't attack until I'm level 3 in the class.

This art is generally the look I'm going for, a heavily-scarred and tattooed woman who speaks to the spirits and seeks to correct a perceived imbalance.

If I understood my clicks correctly, this should link to my character sheet so far, though I have to put a bit more work into it to be complete.

Relevant character info

I'll need some time to write out a proper backstory for her, but that's also something I don't want to put a lot of time into (or get too attached to) before knowing whether the class will be approved. I'll also need to make another, smaller sheet for my companion when I get the chance.

I can firmly say that since death plays a big role in the story, that you will be able to take greatly different approaches to challenges than most and will even have access to parts of the campaign that you wouldn't know about until later... I approve of this class, it's not the most thing iv'e ever seen or even the most OP... but it is pretty damn cool ;)

The class looks very interesting and the art is awesome! The fact you keep picking Cha-based classes with the Ugly penalty is... intriguing :D

I forgot to mention: I changed my background to Acolyte, because even with the half-Cleric flavoring of the Acolyte background, I like the mechanical bonuses better than the Shaman background from that collection of homebrew backgrounds which I previously linked.

Also two things I should mention:
First, either I can't add homebrew weapons to Dungeon Master's Vault, or I just can't figure out how, so I added a dagger to my weapon list to represent the Ritual Knife as a weapon (even though I also have it in my equipment list).

Second, there's a flavorful twist I'd like to implement. I'd like to have the holy symbol gained from my Acolyte background to be the Druidic-like tattoos, much like the Iron Druid which I named the character after.

You can make homebrew weapons, but you have to go into the Item Builder at the top of the page. Once you have made your item and saved it to your browser storage it shows up in the dropdown menu.

Holy Symbol granted, I must say that I look forward to reading up on your backstory

Mostly seems to work, though it shows up under Magical Weapons and I'm not sure whether it has all the properties its supposed to. I guess I can just refer to the Keeper PDF if there's ever a need to double-check.

Also I'm not completely clear on starting equipment and spellcasting foci, particularly for classes that don't start with spellcasting. From my understanding, if I want to start with the Ritual Knife, I'll need to subtract the cost of the knife (5gp) from the gold I start with (15gp from my background), right? I'm fine if that's the case, but I want to know that I'm doing everything correctly.

I had, like, no time today to write and my brain is a little fried from a hectic workday. I've got a visual in my head that I can hopefully hammer out tomorrow, if I don't get stuck. I've also got to put the companion's sheet together, whom I found a form for. I'll post that sheet (or edit into this post) as soon as I get it done.

EDIT: This should be most of the info for my companion, "Haggard." I had to load most of the information into a custom race and class, and I still didn't have free reign because of the odd AC this thing gets (12+my proficiency bonus), so I gave it Medium Armor Proficiency so I could slap a Breastplate on to get the proper AC, but AFAIK, it neither starts with any equipment nor gains any weapon/armor proficiencies (except I guess the two natural attacks it will eventually gain at level 3).

As per the Keeper build rules I chose the following for my companion:
Spoiler

EDIT2: I found the perfect visual for Siobhan's face, after sifting through some artwork of Hel (the Norse goddess of the underworld).

Got the hang of Web DM. Got the Player's handbook in PDF and read up on it.
Retooled my background and such.

Zanzilbar Dalcatta is that most loathsome of creatures- the dandy. "The fanciest fop in the realm", "mad, bad and dangerous to know", "The best dressed man in any room", "The stuff of legend poured into the mold of a man"- such are the aggrandizements that surround the dashing warlock known as Zanzilbar Calcatta. His purpose is to become legend. And if he trades on his name before it has gained its full worth then it's no matter- it's as good as certain he'll reach that height isn't it?

Born somewhere more or less far from here with some sliver of descent from figures of great wealth and prowess, Zanzilbar cast off meager roots to claim a new and greater heritage. The specifcs of his past are irrelevant to him, as they should be to you.

I'm well aware of what your class entails, I downloaded a copy of the file because it intrigues me. No inherit rush on your backstory... so long as I have a idea of what they are like and their past (for story reasons) You'll be fine.
