To answer the d8 question I have a 7 in constitution so a -2 to any hitpoints gained, then added favor class bonus to HP.

I will ask again, since on the first it was just edited in and easily missed: do the "starting language" restrictions apply to Linguistics ranks, or just to bonus languages? 'cause while I think I'm going to put my Favored Class into a new skill either way, it might affect what skill I take.

Just bonus languages. There is a strong possibility of you learning new languages while traveling, but realistically, you have no idea of what the Plane of Celestials is like, so why would you have the language? More or less, the restrictions on what you can begin with are simply there for the flow of the game and making sense. Ranks in Linguistics are about how quickly you can pick up languages you learn, and deciphering new languages you meet.

So I've decided to go ahead and play my Zen Archer as it occurs to me I have never actually played a monk in anything before. I'll fill out the character details tomorrow or something but its mechanically finished.

I was going to make the same request...I'd like to play, but, I don't see myself having time to figure out the game, the world, and make a character this week.

Making a character is the only thing you really need to do. As far as understanding the world, I'll be putting up a link soon-ish that will help everybody with that. Probably about when the game launches. You'll be in a whole new city than the previous game, and possibly another time period, so even BH and Garren will be learning the new locations. Don't worry about that. As far as mechanics go, as long as you can roleplay, we can fill you in as we go. So, it's really just about building a basic character and trying something new. If you have specific questions on it, feel free to ask and we'll all do our best to help you get going.

Open Question: Do you guys wanna postpone beginning until next Friday or so?

Would doing that give you guys enough time to feel more comfortable in building characters and getting ready for the game? I'm willing to wait a little while, in fact, I was a bit surprised the set up got so much interest so quickly.

I have a hook ready to go, but before that I need to know everyone's races and classes. After I have that, I'll be ready to hand out your hooks.

But knowing what we're doing helps build a character that would be taking up such a mission.

Not going to build a paladin only to find out mr goodie goody doesnt fit into the quest.

No mission to begin with, much like the last game, you'll start in the city with free roaming and the ability to ask to go wherever you'd like. Difference is how you'll end up knowing each other, which will be part of the hook.

Hint: Everyone's hooks will be sent in the form of a PM to help the roleplay get started.

While I appreciate you were probably joking if anyone is having trouble building a character please feel free to ask for assistance. It is the longest and arguably most complex part of the game after all. For those really stuck I actually would be willing to do the mechanical side of the sheets; I'd need a preferred race, class and a short blurb explaining what you'd like the character to be capable of doing but provided with that I'd be more then happy to build a character for someone. Obviously you'd still have to name them and come up with a personality but I can't do everything.
