You can't lynch someone to determine their alignment, so if I use it on a town and claim he's scum, why wouldn't you believe me? I've also used it to confirm a town, which basically won me the game on turn 2 by distancing myself from the other scum, and having my target trust me. You can also use it on scum to call them scum and distance yourself. It's all pretty WIFOM, so there's no reason you should trust a town when they're using it.

Sidenote: Forgot to mention that you can't use it on someone who's had it previously.

right, but town can actually inform themselves. they don't need anyone to believe them, they just get free info for themselves. if town ignores everyone else's claimed results, which is probably the correct play for them, scum's uses all dry up while town's are still valuable.

I disagree razor. I think it only adds strategy. It's just like a mafia game with stonemasons, or a cop role. It's just played differently in here.
