August 12th, 2020 Phoenix, Arizona Headquarters of the Humanity Defense Organization
The air felt heavy with tension. An unpleasant atmosphere of silence disturbed only by the whirring of the ceiling fan, occassional cough, and clinking of ice as it melted in untouched glasses. Six figures impatiently sat, four woman, two men. Behind an unimposing desk, a seventh stood, tapping her wrist, staring at a laptop's dim display. Most of the occupants also clutched cellphones. Suddenly, the phones rang. They went to them except for one. She stared at the laptop, the open window suddenly returning results from the latest testing of a listening satellite long since considered unlikely to ever find anything. It was returning more data than it had in the last 30 years. She flipped open her phone and said "Status?" For a moment no one answered. Then "They were right. It's here." She put down the phone for a moment, wiped her brow, and returned to the line. "Confirmation received. Procede to activate it. Summon them." She hung up and mumbled quietly "If any are still alive."
The Humanity Defense Organization has existed in various forms for thousands of years. Part of the duties of the current guardian of Earth from various threats is the continued safeguarding of a number of sealed ruins containing an ancient device known as the Aedificator, the last line of defense. Now, they've just encountered a reason to untomb it. A listening satellite embedded itself on a living mass several times the size of the sun. It's traveling steadily towards the heart of our system. In response, the Organization has activated an emergency beacon, calling forth those of a certain line. Various people will experience visions, dreams, or just feelings that will hopefully lead them to the Organization and the salvation of our world.
The setting begins with the bloodline characters finding their way to the Organization in Phoenix. For those starting with characters of the bloodline, it is preferred your character starts in Phoenix, whether because they live there or are visiting. You don't have to play a bloodline character, but it is encouraged. General idea is supernatural modern. Public knows nothing about it at large.
Guidelines -In the event two players come to a disagreement about the story that can't be resolved, a general vote will be taken in which all active players will pick one or the other. If there is a tie, the host will choose. In the event the host is one of the players, the secondary host will choose. In the event both the host and the secondary host are the two players, this rp is a shambles why did we even bother trying. -If you are playing one of the bloodline, you might occassionally get a private message in character from the entity traveling towards the sun, probably related to trying to dissuade your character from doing things or to aid it instead. If you feel your character needs a specific message, be sure to talk it out with either host. While we will be in control of what it sends, we don't want to step on the spirit of freeform. -Have fun.
While it is probably not entirely necessary to have a sign up for freeform, we felt like one would be nice, more so as a head's up this is happening soon.
Hosts Niklor Rubik
Players Niklor Lilan Rubik Mown Squinty_Eyes Cato
