Post subject:  Ranger vs Wildrunner

Hello, so currently my campaign is playing out of Races of the Wilds in the plane of Feywild. I am playing a CG wood elf ranger who has now been given the opportunity to change into a wildrunner. However I am not keen on this as I am new to DnD so I am asking, what are the pros and cons of being a ranger compared to being a wildrunner, i.e. should I take the offer? I currently have an elven hound companion that levels up with my ranger level but if I take the wildrunner class she will no longer level up with me. I will also loose my combat style which as of now is archery, and who knows what else I'll have to sacrifice.

However my DM informed me that this is an evolution from the ranger class and thus much stronger.

Any advice?
