Considering how awesome the drawings still turned out ... I dont really care if it was a template. Artist clearly went above and beyond the template and has better skill than mine.

Make your own template. Get your players to MS paint their characters.

I was never any good with MS Paint. I could augment a template badly, but building one would come out badly.
