So, John Wick's new rpg hit dtrpg after a funding campaign on KS. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/131729/Wield I haven't done more than skim the pdf, but the concept hooked me. Long story short, you play a Vatcha (a sentient item) wielding a "hero". The book blurb casts the PCs as weapons, but chargen gives examples ranging from items of adventuring gear to a loveseat to a police box. The art seems to assume a base setting of medieval fantasy, but it doesn't seem to include any actual setting (which is actually kind of cool imo, since it doesn't lock you into a setting by default). A companion book is supposed to be do out soon with additional powers & settings for Victorian, Western, & cyberpunk games iirc. My point in bringing this up being that I was curious what kind of Vatcha people would play, given their choice of setting. I'm not sure myself yet. |

He's done Shotgun Diaries (zombies), Cat (cats, duh), some other stuff. I've never played anything of his, but he comes up in rpg discussion from time to time. I have a feeling Kill la Kill & Soul Eater have a fair amount to do with my attraction to this game. The system seems pretty light. Rules content fits in about 60 pages. Looks like maybe just 2d6 base w/modifiers adding one or two dice for task resolution. |

I would probably be a pen that makes you go mad with creative ideas and scribble all over everything. |

I suppose I would end up as an eye patch. Maybe a prosthetic eye, Millenium Eye style. Compel a person to replace an eye with me for death stare/darkvision/true sight powers. |

This actually looks like a cool little idea for a RPG. Of the top of my head I like the idea of playing a suit of armour (most likely Full Plate) that grants it's wearer near indestructability in exchange for the fact they can't remove the armour and I'm in command. Sorta a power in exchange for becoming a tool sort of deal. Hmm. Things on sale as we speak. I think I'll pick up a copy. |

It's a self contained core book for $5. About 60 pages of rules content (chargen, system, vatcha powers, some general stuff), 3 short stories, char sheets. |

squinty_eyes wrote: That sounds like a name I should know but don't.... ~SE++ He's fairly well reputable for his stance on GM'ing, like described in the book Play Dirty. "Killer GM'ing" and whatnot. chinkeeyong wrote: I would probably be a pen that makes you go mad with creative ideas and scribble all over everything. Ad Nauseam? Sort of wary of buying anything he makes, because the crunch in Wicked Fantasy appeared before me as pretty bad, although I didn't give it the chance to go beyond first impressions. Pretty cheap though. A part of me would want to play a Boomerang that returns to people on his own discretion. I could change my master all the time if I wanted. A magical key could also be interesting, now that I find myself toying around with one in my hands. I could open various abstract concepts. |

Thought I would pop in to mention that the Wield Companion was finally put up for public sale a bit back. Of course, JWP had to wait until months after his customer service said it was supposed to be out & I paid a small fortune for a hard copy. In any case, if anyone was still interested, it's available now as a pdf or hardcopy (stock allowing) through the JWP store. Likewise, pdfs & hardcopies of the core book can now be found there. http://johnwickpresents.com/product/wield-companion/ http://johnwickpresents.com/product/wield/ |
