Post subject: | Questions About Battlemind : Aspect Of Elevated Harmony |
Hey everyone, So I recently started playing a Battlemind down in DreamSpinner's Iron Skies Play-By-Post game, and while its my first time playing a psionic in 4e the trading encounter powers for power points to use as augments to your At-Will Powers is pretty cut and dry. Except for one of the dailies that I picked up, I thought I understood it at first but now I'm not so sure. The daily in question is Aspect Of Elevated Harmony. Power Details wrote: Aspect Of Elevated Harmony Dally, Healing, Polymorph, Psionic, Weapon Standard Action Melee weapon Target: One creature Attack: Constitution vs. AC Hit: 2[W] + Constitution modifier damage. Miss: Half damage. Effect: You can spend a healing surge. You then assume the aspect of elevated harmony until the end of the encounter. While in this aspect, you can use the following augmentation with your battlemind at-will attack powers that are augmentable. This augmentation is an addition to the effect that an at-will power might have; this augmentation doesn't supersede them. Augment 1 Effect: You gain temporary hit points equal to 5 + your Wisdom modifier. In addition, choose a single creature hit by the at·will attack. That creature takes extra damage equal to your Wisdom modifier . My questions are: 1) Is it now a choice between the augments on the at will but you can only pick one or the other. Either the at-wills normal augments (either 1 or 2 points) or the Aspect Of Elevated Harmony augment, but not both. Or can choose to augment the power as normal AND add the benefit of this augment if you pay the extra point. For example use Spectral Legion and pay two power points for its augment, and then pay a third point to gain the benefit of Aspect Of Elevated Harmony. 2) Does the augment from Aspect Of Elevated Harmony remain on all of your at-wills for the rest of the encounter and you can use the augment as long as you have the points to spend. Or is it a single use and once you pop it the augment fizzles away? Thanks in advance for any guidance. |

1. I read it as it adds another augmentation option for your at-wills. Each use of a power only allows you to choose a single augmentation, so no, you can't pay a third power point to augment your at-will a second time. 2. I assume aspects work like stances, which means you can only be in one aspect at a time and they last until they say they do or until the end of the encounter, whichever comes first. |

As stated in the Psionic Augmentation rules block you can only use a single augmentation at at time. Effectively the Aspect of Elevated Harmony adds an additional augmentation option to all your at-will powers. Or is it a single use and once you pop it the augment fizzles away? It remains active until the the end of the encounter and can be used so long as you have the power points to do so. Unlike a Stance however the aspect does not end if you activate another one. |

Yup. The two above have it correct as far as I understand the power. You could chose AtWill1, AtWill2, or Daily1 when using any of your at wills but you only get a single benefit. Much in the same way that you cannot use Augment 2 and then pay another PP and use Augment 1 when using your normal At Will powers. As for the aspect just like the warden aspects and such it has an initial actual attack but then the effect says with you until the end of the encounter. So you could pop the daily first and then simply use a PP every time you got low to puff up those Temporary Hit Points. |

Thanks for the input everyone. I was pretty sure that I understood the daily, and the way you guys described it is what I had in my head during character creation. It wasnt until I wandered into a discussion about Battleminds on another site did people start arguing over how the powers worked and I wanted the solidarity of clarification. I'll definately keep it in mind as something that I want to pop near the begining of combat and of course since I'm new to the class I'll have to find some time to look into those other aspects that I could be stacking. Haha. Thanks again guys! |
