Do people feel like the melee classes are still interesting or are they more like 3.x repetitive swinging?

Also, looking it over, I wish there were multiclassing feats like in 4e, sort of like Magic Initiate, that let people dip into other classes a little bit without dedicating a whole level.

Remember that I havent actually played yet, but yes, that seems to be one of the big things people are picking up on ... even the people that hated 4e.

If you're a fighter at level one you just swing your weapon and at higher levels you just swing your weapons more times. 4e did at least give you little things like +1 AC for a round or temporary hitpoints and such that made it feel like you had fake magic abilities as it were.

I'd like to play a Rogue who is either the head of a guild or the power behind the power

You should. Obviously.

I'd like to see what backgrounds and personality traits you'd select.

...so it's becoming readily apparent to me that for the sake of variety during character creation the best option is always human thanks to the bonus feat. That's kinda annoying. Looks like once again human is going to be the standard. Sigh.

Ban varient humans.

Consider giving everyone a bonus feat. Or a bonus feat at lvl 2 or something

Oh if/when I run another 5E game I'm certainly going to be giving everyone a bonus feat as a DM gift.

I feel like it would have been best to start Obed off at level 3, two levels as a fighter and switch to warlock. Since he's supposed to be more of a physical character that just got pulled into warlockdom.

I like humans, honestly. I don't get the appeal of crazy variant races when I find humans so much more relatable.

I play a human in real life though. :V

Would rather mix it up a bit.

I want to try out the Eldrich Knight Archtype Fighter. Always been a fan of mixing a heavily armed character with magic and this would be a good way without sacrificing progress in a class.

Leaning towards... Elf maybe, as the race unsure on background.

But need the PHB first.
