That's... not too bad, actually. My gut tells me knockout and awesome blow should both come up a little sooner in the level progression. (Also, "awesome blow" is a terrible name, since it's also the name of a feat.)

Garren and I had a whole conversation about this while he was joining my Sandbox world the first time. I still stand by necromancy being evil because no matter how it is used, there is an evil aspect to it. All other schools of magic can be used for either good or evil, but I can't find a way for necromancy to be used in a way that is entirely good. No matter what you're doing, you're taking a body and desecrating it, even if you're using it to fight a good fight, you're abusing the body.

~SE++

I see your argument on body desecration and raise you an episode of Doctor Who; The Unquiet Dead.

Okay, true, in the end of this episodes (spoilers!), the spirits possessing corpses did turn out to be evil. That doesn't change the fact that the Doctor's central argument in favour of recycling dead bodies to house body-less spirits was not a desecration, but rather the only humane thing to do. Of course, most of the humans found this solution squeamish, and undesirable.

It's a good episode with some interesting moral debates on this subject.

I remember that episode! Jeez that was a while back. Back before the doctor has googly-eyes or was twelve years old. Fun times.

But yeah I did enjoy the argument they brought up in that episode. Shame they didn't build on it much and the spirits had to of course be evil. Such a shame - you just don't see many things exploring the useful and practical side of necromancy.

YOU GET HEALING! AND YOU GET HEALING! EVERYBODY GETS HEALING!

Seriously, I don't see why each school didn't get it's own way of healing. As you said, basically every school (except conjuration) would make sense to have some sort of healing in it, and frankly I think that Necromancy should have held both positive and negative schools. But it's not. Honestly I have no explanation for it, but hey, at least neg. energy clerics get the title of Necromancer all to themselves. (Who needs healing anyways? Psh.)

As a staunch supporter of Necromancy, though, I'll have to argue that it's not wholly evil. Sure, it's not very virtuous, but the argument of 'desecrating corpses' is really, really opinionated. Just because one thinks a body/soul shouldn't be abused, doesn't mean that those that DO use Necromancy are doing it just to make the recipients suffer. A good show of this, I belive, would be Wee Jas.

Quote:
Wee Jas thinks of herself as a steward of the dead. Though she is a relatively benign death goddess, she has no problem with undead being created - as long as they are not reanimated against their will, and their remains are procured in a lawful manner.

From the D&D wiki; I'd say that that proves that not all Necromancy is inherently evil. Some people WANT to be used after death. (I wouldn't mind it.)
