My friends and I have been having less and less time for playing D&D style games, and now we're moving towards faster gaming, like board games. Last week we tried out Coup since it was only $10 to pick up. We really enjoyed playing the quick games, are there any other micro board games you guys would recommend?

Love Letter and Coup have some things in common.
If you like mafia style games then Resistance and One Night Ultimate Werewolf are good. ONUW is especially quick, and very wacky.
Bohnanza is a fairly quick trading game, I don't know if I would call it micro though.
For Sale is a quick auctioning game, probably fun if you like games like Power Grid.
Race for the Galaxy is a fairly quick phase selection game like Puerto Rico. It is all about card synergy, so you might like it if you like MTG, Seasons, Dominion, or GOSU.
Tokaido is a pretty chill point collection game, it is kind of similar to a worker placement game in that only one person may land on each space so you are fighting for those resources.
Escape: The Curse of the Temple is an exciting real time coop game.
Dixit is pretty chill, I think it's like a more creative Apples to Apples.
Hanabi is pretty chill too. It's also a coop game if you're into that, and nobody has perfect information so it feels like a true coop game.

I did see the Tabletop from this week that had Love Letter as well as Coup, which was pretty cool. Dunno if I like Love Letter as much since I'm not as big a fan of an end to the game where the highest points of your last card determine a winner. Aside from that, it is kinda cool.

I have played The Resistance before, which was how I found Coup since it's set in the same world, and I really liked the flavor of it all. I have not tried One Night Ultimate Werewolf, mostly because I'm not a Mafia or Werewolf player, but I'll check it out.

Again, with Tabletop, I have seen Tokaido and Dixit, which looked cool, but I wouldn't necessarily call them micro games.

I'll have to look into Bohnanza, For Sale, Race for the Galaxy, Escape: The Curse of the Temple and Hanabi. And I am a huge fan of Co-op games, so Hanabi will probably be at the top of my list. My buddy has Pandemic, Forbidden Island and Forbidden Desert, and we love those games to pieces.

Citadels is okay, sort of unexciting and a little long.
Coup is usually fun, albeit it feels a bit inconsequential.
Hanabi is great.
Love Letter never captured me.
Mascarade is really fun until the guy that cheats ruins the game for the rest of your life.
Resistance is one of my favorite games, but I'm getting stingy on player counts as of late. More than 7 is just a trainwreck.
Tsuro is really cool.
Haven't gotten to play Once Upon a Time, but I'd imagine it qualifies.

Red7 looks interesting although I've never played it.

Maybe.

While searching around for more micro games, I stumbles across Shift CCG. A single card CCG that functions like a small deck all on its own that you play a Magic-like game with. It looks a little frustrating to learn, with a crap ton of symbols and the like crammed onto each card, but at the same time, it could be really cool with a lot of match-ups to play.

I don't hate it. It's just not fun or interesting to me.

Pretty much the same thing.

No. Hate provokes active contempt, like Munchkin. Race just makes me apathetic.

Everyone should hate Munchkins.

Race is cool because phase selection is a cool mechanic.

Never played Munchkins, but if there is a game I never want to play again it would be Battlestar Galactica, probably Risk too.

Pretty much this. Never before or since have I seen a game that promotes so much ill-will, and I play stax in multiplayer. People laugh that off. Despite the cards being hilarious in isolation, they don't laugh off Munchkin.

Once Upon A Time is... interesting. Like, it can be a really short game or a multi-hour marathon depending on who you're playing with.

To be fair, that only happens like 10% of the time (In my experience the game is usually won by elimination), though it does create an interesting tension in that the three highest cards are riskier to hold onto (Though the Tempest Edition ruined that with their Minister, so I'd stick with Kanai Factory Edition. Or maybe Batman, can't say anything about it myself, but I've heard good things).

Also +1 to Hanabi Montannabee.

Munchkin is fun for the first couple of games. Then you realize that it plays the same every time and discover Cosmic Encounter, which is everything Munchkin wants to be and so much more.
