I decided today that I would like to put my terrible stream/knowledge of starcraft II casting towards something. That something is what you see here: a thread about a starcraft II tournament, hosted by me. The ideal situation for me is to be able to cast this all over a weekend (though hopefully just in one day to keep it easy for everyone) and give the winner a SPECIAL forum prize from miss bun.

Here are some questions or statements that I would expect to be said so I will answer them now

Q: I'd like to play but I don't have starcraft II :(
A: That is not a problem! With the new "spawning" feature of starcraft II, as long as you are playing with someone who owns starcraft you can still play. As long as you like playing terran. The free-mode starcraft only lets you play them unfortunately.

Q: I would like to play but I suck :(
A: So does everyone else in this tournament! As far as I know I am the only poster here who actually plays starcraft 2 regularly, and with my time being occupied with hosting the whole thing, I wouldn't be playing. Some people who have never even played starcraft have already expressed interest in this, so I think the skill level is quite even.

Q: When is this?
A: No idea! This thread is just to gather interest. Everyone here is a busy person and we all live in different time zones, but if people are interested in playing I am confident I can find a time for everyone.

Q: What is the format?
A: That depends on the number of players. Single elimination bracket is probably the easiest to organize and play though so that is my overall preference

Q: If I'm not playing/don't play will I be able to watch the games?
A: Yes. I will be streaming the games on my twitch channel with my terrible commentary added

Q: Is the stream good quality?
A: no it's ****

Q: What is the special prize
A: It's a "custom title"

you appear to be the only other person not already in the OP interested

blizzard announced at blizzcon that they were changing starter edition (aka free mode of sc2) to allow all races and all custom maps

so perhaps when that is out I will revive that thread

Big news everyone!

Starcraft II (Heart of the Swarm) is now on sale for just $20 until december 2!

AND

it was confirmed at blizzcon that starter edition users (aka free edition users) will be able to use all 3 races and play on all custom maps. So if you love starcraft but hate Terran, you can still play in the tournament!

With HotS at $20, I might pick it up soon. Anyone know how long it'll be on sale for?
