In what seems to be the most obvious Hearthstone rip-off yet, Fable Fortune has graced our shores. Apparently free-to-play, right now a game preview is out on Xbox One with a free trial. I am a sucker for free trials since you can't go too deep down the rabbit hole, you just get a taste.
You're given 10 boosters to start. There are also pre-constructed decks to use in Training. There is no single-player tutorial which is very lacking given that "Guard" is a new mechanic and needs to be understood, as do all the various Hero powers. There are 6 levels of rarity, and somehow in the initial 10 boosters, I scored a "Fabled" card which is the hardest rarity to find. I think I got more than one Mythic too. Maybe the distribution is loose for the trial version.
I probably won't last long in this game, since the gameplay is as repetitive as Hearthstone and it's all about board presence. I like that you can give any unit Guard since that adds much tactical depth to the game.
As usual I'm completely lost regarding deck construction so have no idea where to even start. I like the idea of quests in each match, but aren't sure if I should go good or evil if I pull off the quest.
I'll keep playing with it, but don't expect to stick around. Just wanted to see if anyone was trying this.
