Cheaper decks yes. In a super narrow, barely customization, rigidly ruled small little chunk of what the actual game is. Like I said I dont really have the time or desire to spend the money to play real MTG so DotP gives a nice feeling of nostalgia and such while letting me play around with the strategies and such available. And that doesnt even get into issues that only show up in computer game versions of something that is meant for the table top... like the AI's decks being stacked etc.

As far as the bad community: Yes that is the phrase, and I do have a few friends that play it, but when it comes down to it we tend to forgo DotP for games more enjoyable like.... Borderlands, Left 4 Dead, or WoW. Haha. But yeah, the DotP community is far worse most times than those that you'd bump into in those sorts of games, and the bad players or trolls in those games can be avoided much easier than the jerks or players with poor sportsmanship of DotP.

Speaking of which, Left 4 Dead has a terrible online community. When its not trolls, its people who rage quit after they died because they don't know how to play the game. As for trolls, I did not realize how many people will refuse to finish the level to annoy others before rage quitting.

The correct term is griefer in that case..troll refers to online such as chatrooms, forums etc....

Communities like l4d2 and tf2 are just fine though. They are very casual with people leaving and joining games as they lose or get bored or have things to do. It removes the serious business trash talkers. Sure they are still there sometimes but it's an overall more fun environment.

If anybody can find me a way to play paper Magic with one of 20 precon decks against another human being at midnight in Guatemala City, let me know, and I'll be happy to stop playing Duels. Until said point, Duels will always be worth the money.

Because everyone wants to play magic the gathering so badly that they will spend 1000's of dollars on cards, him included?

Just because you don't like DOTP doesn't mean it doesn't have its purpose. And a @#$% good purpose at that.

If you absolutely must play at midnight, then yeah, I guess you want to play that badly.
Besides, he just asked for a way to play a human being. Asking your friend if he wants to play is a totally reasonable thing to do, you know? You can proxy the cards for all hell I give, although it's not like the decks are so insanely genius that you wouldn't be better off just building something with spare commons and uncommons and have fun with something you created on your own.

He requested an answer and I gave him one, I don't see what you're getting all flustered about.

So what does Jack do when all 3 of his trading card drops for a game gives him the exact same card?

So the trading card thing and badge thing is overall kind of just meh. It's not bad, but it's not good either.

The rewards for turning in a set (meaning you lose 1 of each card for that game) are random and not really worth the effort, the badge leveling system is kind of meaningless for the most part, getting a complete set for any game is either going to cost you more than the game does in some cases or it's an effort in futility, and it's all just kind of meh in my opinion.

Oh and Jack doesn't seem to ever get booster packs.

The only good thing so far is apparently people with more money than me are willing to pay me for some of these cards.

No. No that doesn't work. They have the same taste as me, so trading my duplicates isn't possible. Every duplicate I have is something they do too.

I'm on steam as trappedslider, and currently only play Civ V, Coutner strike, Counter strike source, half life and HL2 Death match

Traveling around town at midnight in Guatemala City is a nice way to get yourself hurt, unfortunately. Besides, I care so much about Magic that I'd rather just plop down 10 bucks and play whenever the mood strikes me, instead of needing to drop larger amounts of cash and getting together with people to play. I used to play weekly games with friends using decks we built for like 20 bucks a piece. It was a blast. But that's just not an option in my life right now, so I don't mind paying 10 bucks for a slightly inferior version to whet my appetite.

Also, I'm married with kids, I'm not allowed to have friends or hobbies :(

Sleeping Dogs is $4 on steam and $8 for the game with all its dlc. The dlc is only really worth it if you like zombies, but just a heads up I guess.

So I was wondering if I could get some help making a specific decision. I am trying to decide whether or not I should get "The Binding of Isaac". I have 3 main concerns I want to ask about.

1. Is the game actually worth playing?

2. Is the game really freaking disgusting?

3. If I wanted to get the game, would it be better to just wait for "The Binding of Isaac Rebirth"?

1. It's a very oldschool style game in the sense that you will lose a ton, but the win becomes super satisfying. It's kinda like a roguelike but not quite.

2. Yes but it's drawn very cute and cartoony so you might be able to see past it.

3. They are supposed to give a discount on the new game for those who own the old game. Or something.

1. Depends entirely on what you like. If you play every game on Easy because losing makes you nauseated, then no. I didn't accidentally put 100 hours into it though.
2. Well, yes.
3. I haven't heard about it.

I decided not to get the Binding of Isaac when I realized I would not be comfortable explaining what it was to people irl, non-gamer people, while at the same time admitting that I want to play it.
