I love those games where someone wins despite logic, reason, and any sense of fairness the universe might still have. Except when I'm on the other team.

the best part of it was that chen was my All Hero Challenge hero and I'm pretty horrible at him (i think I'm 2-7 as him now), so getting past him was a pretty good feeling

chen with dagon is actually pretty insane burst, because test of faith is (on average) a lot of pure damage, and penitence gives you a lot of damage amplification. i've always been tempted to play mid Chen with like dagon/ethereal blade/orchid, but I've never tried it

Just had the world most terrible game. My teammates had indicated that they wanted to play a carry, a mid, and a jungler, and I'm bored of support because I played it for like 5 games straight, so I pick faceless void for the offlane. I type in chat that the last guy should pick a support. He picks phantom lancer. And the axe changes his mind and goes bounty hunter. Then comes to my lane, feeds first blood against no detection (he could have just used windwalk and walked away. He even had it leveled), then starts stealing my farm with shuriken toss. Keep in mind that this is ranked. And not potato tier ranked, it's like 3.3k mmr. This is why we can't have nice things.

What's wrong with jungle axe? Unlike most junglers, he can start fighting midgame instead of needing 30 minutes of farm to actually do something.

it's true that he's better than garbage junglers like doom/legion commander/lifestealer/ursa which people seem to insist on not laning with, but I still think it's a big waste of a hero who's so strong early on, especially since he's a really slow jungler for the first few levels and has to take a lot of damage from creeps

Axe is only a good laner against melee heroes, against ranged heroes all you manage to do is push the lane and obliterate any chance your lane partner has to get last hits.

I stopped playing dota 2 before ranked became a thing, but that sounds exactly like the average public game.

i just won a 70 minute game as Chen, where at 30 minutes we had lost 2 sets of barracks and had only pushed 3 towers. at that point I transitioned from support chen into Dagon Chen and we somehow started winning fights, despite their team outscaling ours (it was Brew/Ursa/Brood/Lich/Bat vs Chen/Nightstalker/QOP/Veno/Techies). we won a fight at about 65 minutes, got mid rax and forced some buybacks; then 3 minutes later they got top rax (giving them megacreeps) but got wiped as a result, so we just pushed to win.

Yeah these games just feel soooooo good. Dota is a game that can generate pretty big highs (like when you just feel something is off without any reason to believe so and retreat from a lane only to have a hasted tiny or something arrive there 0.5 seconds right after you get the hell away), and that kind of win are just pure adrenaline.

My best one is a game where I played mirana solo mid against bloodseeker, got first blooded in an embarassing fashion, egregiously missed easy arrows, failed all gank attempts and just basically played a game I couldnt wait to end so I could just forget it. Basically everything that could go wrong did.

So our dysfunctional team of me, Lich (terrible) /Earthshaker (newbie but willing to listen to advice) /Dragon Knight (Russian, no english, didn't move from bot lane until they started raxxing us) and Qop (half-decent) saw itself defending mid rax before even the 30th minute, against a team with luxury items (furion with sheepstick and mjollnir). Then weird things happened and we won the teamfight losing 2 to their five, the Furion typed "Comeback! :P" in all chat and instabuybacked, tped top lane to push the base, I hit him with a 5 sec arrow and he died and then something got into us thinking we can win. It was painful, took 80 minutes but we finally did it, and we did so while they had megacreeped us and their clinkz and furion were trying to backdoor our throne. Felt so good

i think pushing the lane is what you want to be doing as axe. you probably shouldn't have someone else laning with you who wants to farm

Can someone affirm my opinion that Strife looks pretty bad?
Both it and HotS looks so slow. I don't like this new LoL-like directions these games take, the early game seems so uneventful.

I mean, I actually like S2 games, but Strife does not look very fun, even if I actually think the shared gold, passive regeneration and personal courier has some merit.

The problem with axe is that he really, REALLY needs a blink dagger. Otherwise you just awkwardly run at people and hope they stand still like an idiot so you can call them.

The reason so many mobas are lolclones is because people like money and lol made a ton of money.

Oh wow, nice seeing that this thread is still kicking. I have not played in 2 months or so since I started working, but the 6.82 has gotten me excited and with Team Secret I should get back to watching more pro games. Not quite sure how they are doing so I need to catch up big time. Anyone mind giving a teams summary on who is doing well/bad since the post-TI reshuffling?

I can't fill you in on the Eastern scene because I don't follow it, but I can do the west, sort of. Team Secret and Team Tinker are both collections of TI4 players who left their teams. Na'Vi, Alliance, C9, EG, Fnatic, and PR are still around, but with some major roster changes. Notably, Na'Vi replaced its only non-Ukrainian players with ex-Power Rangers players, which has given them a level of YOLO that is beyond the understanding of mere humans like you or I.

Here's a fun team secret game to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5Sek5- ... aFNJ0Dmg8w

The patch: I've played 5-10 games since the patch, and here are my impressions:
1: The gold from death changes are the biggest change. When you kill a hero who has a really high net worth on a team whose net worth is significantly higher than yours, you get a TON of gold. This means that heroes based on getting a gold advantage through early ganking (Bounty Hunter, Nyx Assassin, Huskar) and carries whose power comes more from being able to outfarm their opponent than being able to use that farm exceptionally well (Antimage, Alchemist, Doom) get a lot worse, while heroes who don't farm very well, but make good use of gold (spectre, medusa) get stronger. Gameplay wise, it means that if you're ahead, you need to be very, VERY careful not go get picked off, even if it means getting multiple kills on enemy heroes, but if you're behind, you want to take fights as often as you can.
2: The rune change was the 2nd biggest change. Since you're guaranteed a rune, heroes are encouraged to leave their lanes to contest the rune spots. This means multiple heroes meeting up in the middle of the river, far away from any towers. This means fights. I really like how this breaks down the passive laning stage.
3: The changes to towers are the 3rd biggest. Towers now give less gold, and tier 1s reset glyph cooldown when they die. This goes hand in hand with #1 in killing snowball heroes and teams, and pushing towards more lategame oriented lineups.
4: The map restructuring are the 4th biggest. First of all, offlane is now super easy to gank. You can wrap around through the new paths in the trees, and use those same paths to escape after you get the kill. Second, the secret shop/ancients area is a lot less safe. After they take down your tier 1, they can go into it through the new paths without being spotted by your T2. Third, rosh is more dangerous. The pit leads directly out into the river, making escape difficult.

overall I think the changes are pretty excellent. comeback gold is a bit excessive at the moment but it's a good concept, so it just needs some tweaking

Yeah, I agree. While I don't like games to be one sided stomps, I feel like early game strats should at least have a chance, and I don't think it should be possible to retake a huge early lead that easily. It's a good idea, but think it should be cut down to about 1/3 of its current value.

Oh I did not mean team compositions. I am mostly up to date with that since I follow my favourite players which are more than a handful. :V I am wondering how well teams are doing; who are at the top, who has made the most of their roster changes. Is Secret doing relatively well? I know Vici is doing quite well, but oddly I have not seen much solid news on the Western standings.
