So, I did this back on the mothership, and decided to revive it here for the same reason it was originally created: I don't write enough, and I need to be able to complete something. So, the basic rules are simple: 1. Pick a topic (I personally prefer the Gatherer Random Card button, but to each their own). 2. Write a story of exactly 50 words; no more, no less. 3. Post the result. Here's the one I wrote today: Oblation They silently gathered around the altar. They had all lost so much, but they had not yet lost their faith. The Ancestor would hear their plea, and she would provide. Carefully the elder poured out their offering. Then, She arrived. Karona surveyed her new recruits. The war would be glorious. |

Air Elemental “The air fights us, Captain!” “Nonsense! Push on!” The air was thick; heavy. The ship rocked. The sails ripped. They said we shouldn’t sail here. They said this was a wizard’s island. They said we were fools. “Captain! The air!” “The air’s our friend, you fool!” Then it hit me. |

Veteran Explorer "I promise, I can get you where you want to go." The man was smiling confidently. I looked at him, slightly skeptical. "I haven't even told you where that is. In fact, I don't even know that myself." "And what kind of explorer would I be if that stopped me?" |

I went to Gatherer to do one of these and the random card I got was Maro. Then I got sad... |

Quote: God touched down, cracking flash-dried bones under His talons. Even now, more spectral horrors emanated from his mind, his dementia space.
His ancient Planeswalker opponent smiled wanly. "At least tell me your name before I die." The masked figure cocked its head. "My... name?" Kirsh, struggling to wakefulness, groaned softly. |

@Keeper: Nice! I like that you made it a character piece. I also like that I even now can't say for which of the characters in the dream was Kirsh (unless it's both of them. Is it both of them?) Now, I bring you Renowned Weaponsmith The man looked at his new bow, admiringly. "The first Dragon I slay with this, shall be counted to you!" The smith bowed. "You are too kind, sir." Before his next customer arrived, he rearranged the entire workshop. "Here are the explosives you ordered. Down with the Kahns, hail Silumgar!" |

Ahahaha, fantastic I liked that one a lot. Incidentally I like that your Oblation and my Vengeful Dreams are sort of tangentially about the same history? I really enjoyed that one too. And now for another: Quote: The sharp thud startled Jade awake at her desk. In the dim light she saw Raleris, struggling to rise from where he had fallen.
"Raleris, are-" He twiddled his fingers. Raleris, wincing, painfully rose and limped slowly onward, past his sleeping apprentice. In the morning, she would not recall waking. |

Oh, man, that one made me sad. Clockwork Beast The beast took a step. People started running. It took a second step. One man stood his ground. A third step. Someone dared look back. A fourth step. He was still there. A fifth. It would soon be upon him. Six. He smiled. Seven. It stopped. He had counted correctly. |

Hey, this is pretty cool! Heretic's Punishment For the sin of omission, (He never wanted to believe) They took away his sight. For the sin of commission, (He always told them no) They took away his hand. For the sin of persistence, (He never took it back) They took away his child- The pain was unbearable, then. Windstorm The ground roiled like the ocean - the ocean thrashed like a thing possessed. Escaping to the air was their only hope; it remained mercifully still. They took flight, leaving homes behind – but the sky darkened, and the aven’s final friend betrayed them. Clade watched, not pleased - but satisfied. |

This looks like fun on a bun. Can I play, too? Quote: A Rakdos Spiker once asked me: “Do you think your law can stop my knife?”
I said to him: “No. But I know that I can.” The strength of our law comes from those who enforce it. I remind the Spiker of that each time I pass his cell. |

There's a lot of good stuff in this thread. It's amazing how powerful you can get with just 50 words. |

Yeah, although it seems a bit sad that this seems to be my best form to work in... Quote: "It makes no sense! The orcs willingly gave us this land, said it was cursed. Why attack the scouts?"
"Sir, I think they attacked each other! These tracks aren't from -" "ORCS!" The captain spun around, and was shocked to see someone pointing at him. The Djinn watched them all die. |

This is a thing that came to mind due to a song in Transistor. wrote: Tears streamed down Dia’s face as she looked down on her friend. “I can't save you, Alavahn.”
All around, the clearing was strewn with the dead bodies of their compatriots and the corpses of their devilish foes. Alavahn simply placed an outstretched finger upon her lips. Then, he was gone. |

Another one because I don't know how to use my time properly: wrote: A thousand blades rained from the sky as the angel and demon lines met above. A thousand corpses joined them, and the ground ran red with blood.
“What do they expect us to do?” the squire asked. The knight looked sadly at him, then out on the battlefield. “Just fight." |

Another one that just came to me last night and I feel that all these that I'm writing are happening on the same plane. The wind beneath my wings. | The wind beneath my wings. The black mass approaches. | The shining blight approaches. My blade shall strike true. | My blade will strike down. We will win this day. | We will win this day. To rid this world of evil! | To rid us of their oppression!

*shrugs* I mean, maybe I could? It's not like I imagined it on purpose that way, it's just that they all seem to be flowing from one to another. |
