I personally feel like the proportions on the first sketch are better.

I do think the size difference between them in this picture is closer to what I had imagined, rather than Fala being small enough to sit in his hand. I don't think I've read the particular story this illustrates, though.

I've still got a few more hours of shading and some detailing on the cliff and runners to go, but here is where i'm at:

lol I think I will conclude my study of these characters with this color study... Thanks Beast'!

uh.. sorry the ooze on the cliff isn't better;) I can see a few areas where the light is off- could be brighter on the coat and should have dragged a head shadow;)

oh yeah and i see that Molcru isn't reflecting the cliff...

aha! his side of face needs more reflective light!
