Hey folks, I'm getting ready to do some stuff related to Creative Commons licensing on the Wiki and I wanted to get your opinions on what license, if any, M:EM should be under. Obviously there's some weirdness with respect to the permissions specifically for M:EMbers and permissions for people who aren't part of the project, and this seems like a good time to hash some of that out.

So, any thoughts on how things should be licensed?

"Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share-Alike" seems best IMO. We *need* non-commercial or WotC will have every reason to come down like the fist of an angry god, and Share-Alike 'guarantees' that nothing down the line should ever violate that and trace back to us. The last term, No Derivatives, seems foolish considering we are derivative to begin with, though it might be best to apply that to anything labeled "Private"

Sounds reasonable to me.

I guess the next question is, if there's a standard license would it be easiest to just create a secondary {{M:EM CC License}} template with all the info already filled in? Probably, huh? Then maybe a separate {{M:EM CC License Private}} for private works.

I'm not really up-to-date on the Creative Commons Licenses, but what Szat says looks good. Attribution, I think, should be obvious, as should non-commercial. Share-alike (which I take top mean that the material should be distributed under the same license) is a logical progression from that.

Surely there must be an existing license for fanworks.
