This here thread is exactly what the title says it is! Y'all can read, cant'cha?

Ask me anything about life out Waste, and I'll spin a yarn for ya... and maybe I'll dig a hunk o' char-coal out o' the campfire and give ya somethin' purty to take a gander at.

Are there any golems, constructs or other artificial lifeforms here on your plane? I'm asking for...a friend of mine.

I'm a human living in the city. Me and some buddies (a Centaur and a Fox) are looking to seek our fortunes in the Waste. What's the best way to go about this?

We were thinking about investing in a herd of baloths, but that might not be the best use of our skills. The Centaur is a supreme marksman. He can shoot the cigar straight out of a fox's mouth. The Fox is a healer by trade, and a good one at that. He used to ply his skills in the slums, but he's eager for adventure. As for me, I don't know much, except how to tell these other guys how to get things done.

Assume I'm new around these parts. Does the local Board of Tourism recommend any reading material to help me familiarize myself with the lay of the land?

WHERE'S THE GOLD, YOU DIRTY, ROTTEN-

*Cough*

Are there specific names for each of the crystallized forms of mana? Was it ever discussed to use Moa's as mounts in the development of this plane? (Similar to Chocobos. WOO! CHOCOBOS! Neen neenee neeneeneenee nee nee nee!)

@OL: We only have one (Two? @Aargh: Did you ever get that Showdown story voted in, or is it just not in the archives yet? [Also, if you were the archivist we could call them the ARGHives. Huehuehue.]) story for Jakkard at the moment:

viewtopic.php?f=31&t=301

It's come up, so you may have already gone over it.

@Keeper: Are there more stories for Jakkard that I'm not aware of?

Hmm. I know I wrote a Jakkard story called "Showdown..."

Also there's a poem in Raven's Rhymes called "Three Duels at Dawn" that is based on Jakkard.

WHAT- Ugh. See. I knew that.

I'm gonna go get some sleep. T_T

EDIT: OH WAIT I CAN'T SLEEP NAMCO HIGH COMES OUT IN LIKE AN HOUR. Siiiigh.

Sorry Raven, my brain is functioning on power saver mode at the moment, and I just spent like, three hours fiddling with my computer. And the three duels at dawn poem was hilarious - I'm honestly surprised no one thought to just kill the poor bastard while he was counting sooner.

No problem, nothing to break up the band over.

Glad you liked the poem. It amuses me, as well. It was sort of my attempt at a Jakkardian "Casey at the Bat."

Which reminds me, Keeper, what is the proper way to refer to someone or something from Jakkard?

How much blood has been spilt... by the Oso del Diablo?

If every eye of every living being on every plane across the impossibly vast Multiverse cried for one hundred days, the tears they shed would hardly match the blood spilled by Oso del Diablo.

Alright, let's get started! I have to say, this is already an interesting exercise for me both because you're all asking really interesting questions that I had to put some thought into, and because I'm finding that drawing with my new tablet is requiring me to basically relearn how to draw. It's been so long since I had the kind of control I've got now that I'm finding all sorts of different limitations to my knowledge.

Are there any golems, constructs or other artificial lifeforms here on your plane? I'm asking for...a friend of mine.

Hm, it depends on where you draw the line on artificial life. There aren't really golems or anything like that, but... well, there are stories about the trains that run into the Waste. There's always been stories about the trains in Verkell, that trains had souls, that they were more than just hunks of steel, but since folks started running them on crystal power the stories have taken on a new kind of authority.

In particular, no one wants to run trains on black leylines anymore.

It did... strange things to the engines.

Well, baloth herding is a fine profession, don't get me wrong--Balboys are brave folks and the push Waste wouldn't be possible without them.

But it sounds to me like you gentlemen have a team destined for better things. A marksman, a healer, and a strategist... well, a bunch like that could have some real luck as bounty hunters or, even better, leyline riders. The fact of the matter is, the best deposits of mana crystals are on the leylines, and leylines are what we need to run the trains. But the leylines also were the only marginally safe place during the time when the Waste was unlivable, and all manner of ornery beasts lurk out there, often protecting caches of crystals.

My advice is: find a mining or construction contractor and ask around about any rewards. It's a dangerous world, and there's always need for more folks willing to fight monsters.

I think we're going to need to talk to the admins about getting the image size limit increased. Right now it's 250k and that's just way too small. The teeny tiny images here are basically all I was able to upload; anything else is too big.

This is brilliant. Now I want to ask questions that just to get pictures of cool stuff.

I stopped at a saloon the other day and played some cards with this weird fella. I think he might be a Djinn. How can I be sure?

Also, after the game of cards, I bumped into someone. One thing let to another, and now I have a showdown at noon. I want to cheat in order to win. What's the best way to do this?

I'm actually really happy with how the dragon turned out. Like, it's rough and obviously a sketch but it just looks like a quick pen drawing and I really enjoy that for some reason.

Probably not all of this will end up in the actual Guide but I'm intending to cull the best of the sketches for use.

I'd still really like to do a sketch for the angels, but I have no clue what happened to my notebook.
Did we ever talk about getting their look down? I know we got the demons in.

I've been imagining them as basically very mundane looking, but with an air of otherworldliness... oh, and their cloaks turn into wings. I was toying with the idea of them having white eyes, as opposed to the black eyes of demons on the plane.

The Djinn have gold eyes. Like, literal gold eyes.

That's very close to what I've been riffing on, except the cloak is more obviously a wing. A single wing that just sort of wraps around like a poncho similar to the man with no name.
I always gave them an air of grizzle too, like they've seen some ****, and that's what separates them from the mundane. They have this hard look to their eyes of sights which mortals dread.
I think rather than white eyes, it'd be more thematic to have a literal steel gaze, with a metallic sheen.

Ooh, I like that. I don't know that Ruwin described their eyes in Two Bullets so I think we're clear there, and yeah, that'd work really well with the overall aesthetic of the plane...

I really want to see your take on them when you get the chance to put them to paper. Ditto demons.

I have some concept sketches of Malzeth that I should probably upload.

As for the Angels, and the eyes in questions, I did not mention them. (Other than to say that Abellus only had one.) In my head they were blue, but that doesn't really matter. We can just assume Fisco didn't think enough of it to really worry about the color of Abellus' eyes.
