So, this is a thing I want to discuss amongst all those that are likely to receive it. How should the weekly form letter be phrased? This is about all I got:



It doesn't translate from text to post well, but I have [i] tags around user so that it can be replaced, and I wanted a [url=] so that it would look prettier.

My reasoning for including the author is that it will entice some people to vote - I know anything by Raven or Tevish I would be all over. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few topic tags, though.

You ever feel like you're talking to yourself sometimes?

I like it. I might personally replace the nicer "let your voice be heard" with the more direct "please vote," but that's just me. All in all, quite good.

It reads fine,nice but professional.

My question is are we getting these for each item going up to vote? We often get thing in waves I would much rather have 1 letter a week than several on those weeks we get so multiple works.

I don't think it needs to be fancier than that, really.

Well, I never said I was good at it. I would have a bit more in there I guess, but I know it wouldn't actually improve it, and I have a tendency to just add anything I can just to be able to use it. (I have loads of fun with build-your-own-whatevers but am notoriously bad at building functional things, like in Bad Piggies.)

So I guess if everyone else likes it that way, I'm on board. No reason to get crazy with it.

So, how exactly does all this work?

Check out the new rules. What we've decided to do is, when someone wants to put something up for a vote, voting will start on Monday, and voting M:EMbers will receive a form letter (which is what we're talking about here) sot that they'll be reminded to vote (a problem we've had with some M:EMbers [hint hint {nudge nudge <wink wink (say no more)>}]).

Subject: Voting week [start date]

Content:

Hello M:EMber, starting [start date] the following works be up for voting. Voting lasts until [end date]. Voting is important, because it makes sure only quality work makes it into our archives and provides our creators with the feedback they need.

I can, but it will have to be after noon my time (-6 GMT), maybe even after 13:00, so if anyone wants to send them out earlier, go ahead. Remember to send them out to everyone but yourself, though, so that we don't end up with multiple form letters that day.

Which version are we using?

I send a message to everyone who can vote. It would be cool if everyone who got the message would vote. There's not a lot that needed voting (which will be often the case) and you have a week.

If you have voting rights and did not receive a message, please let me know.

I got the message, but I have two issues to bring up:

One, either you only sent it to five people or the forum only shows up to five recipients in the "to" field, because there were only five users in there for me. I'm guessing it's the latter, but I thought I'd bring it up.

Two, you put a random "l" (that's a small L) at the end of Raven's "The Fallen Pharaoh" link. That's not something that will carry over to any future letters, but I thought I'd mention it.
