So, I imagine most of you are sitting there with a perplexed look on your face wondering what the hell I'm doing bumping this up.
Well, mostly it's because I think that it behooves us to intermittently take stock of this sort of thing so that we can have a centralized place to look at a very simple breakdown of how we're stacking up with this.

The wiki is fantastic for storing information, but it doesn't have quite the same immediacy and simplicity of a basic list that we can just immediately look at where everything falls.
So, hence why I'm bumping this up, so that we can look at how everything is falling together.

So we've got 37 characters now listed on the wiki.

17 of them are nonhuman now, due to a recent increase in nonhuman walkers. That's pretty cool!

21/37 are male, which I believe means that we're moving closer to parity than we were before. That's good. Still no nonbinary or trans characters... that we know about anyway!

We've got one gay character (Kirsh) one bi character (Alessa) one character who at the very least is attracted to other women (Beryl) and 33 characters that I have headcanoned as bisexual until proven otherwise. And Lukas Harran unless he's also bi and Kahr just isn't his type. Also Agmund is gay but I'm not going to wade back into the old forum to add those characters into this calculation right now.

Three of the nonhumans are undead, two are half elves, one changeling faerie, one troll, one goblin, two aven, one kor, two giants (one big one small both female interestingly), one uh... one unicorn, one sphinx, one loxodon, and one moonfolk.

We don't have any full blooded elves yet, no (dossiered) catfolk, no viashino, no vampires nor do we need them frankly, no orcs, no ogres, way less goblins than you'd expect, and I fear we will never have a cephalid as long as Barinellos is M:EMperor.

Yeah that's about the shape of things right now.

And... well, the other would be spoiling things just for the moment. Stay tuned Keeper. That one is reaching backwards quite a bit.

Which going back to gender identity, I have no idea how to count really...

The Shifter isn't counted yet in my tally! But yes he'd be a shapeshifter. Unless I'm forgetting another shapeshifter. (I'd even hesitate a bit to count the Duchess as human at this point too since like... inhumanity is part of her Thing.)

Huh.... Well, I mean, Wild Card was, so they should be in there. Thought I'd added them to the wiki too the other day when I put Janhapuhr in.

And yes, I tend to agree about the Duchess, but hell if I know what else to call her.

edit:There, added the missing pieces as well as two of Raven's contributions that had managed to slip through the cracks. Haven't made a page for them yet though, but putting them on the list keeps the memory alive at least.

Yeah, I don't add characters to the list unless they either A. have a dossier or B. the works dealing with them would otherwise not be indexed under any characters.

The addition of the story featuring just the Missing Pieces would necessitate that they get an entry sans dossier for indexing purposes.

That's why Morgezka and Jade weren't added either.

With them, the total jumps to 41 characters, 20 (half!) nonhuman, 22 male (meaning that we're just about at 50% gender representation! GOOD WORK TEAM!) and we've got a dragon, a shapeshifter, and a cat who is also a statue added to the races represented. Weird!

It looks like the only characters that haven't been at least nominally added to the archive or struck from the roster are Akura (female gorgon) Agmund (male human) and Denna (female uh... forest. o_o Former elf.)

That'd bring us to 44, 23/21 male/female, and 22 nonhumans.

Akura probably needs revisiting though so that's sort of provisional.

Akura is one that I've always felt a little unhappy with since her entire meta-origin was tied into something that was essentially parasitic to something outside the contest of her inception and she herself doesn't feel complete. Her homeworld was what earned her entry, and that's never sat well with me.

Providing that I'm remembering the correct character to start with.... which admittedly I might not be. W/B Gorgon? Obsessed with Law?

I'm really curious... that adds up to 36. Who's the one character you don't headcanon to bi? Vasilias? Molcru?


This has got me thinking about my contributions and where they fall -- on race, gender, and orientation. I'd produce a list but it probably wouldn't be that interesting. Heavily overbalanced towards female, I'd guess, but also to straight/keeper-headcanon-bi humans

Just popping in to say that Jinsen is asexual and homoromantic, and Fisco is unlikely to engage in sexual relations with anyone who he doesn't have deep feelings for. (I... forget what that is called and I just finished an 8 hour shift followed by a 6 hour drive so I'm sort of toasted. Apologies.)

Clade is a giant, destructive troll and probably has not given much thought to gender after his entire race was wiped out. Sort of puts a damper on the whole "dating" thing.

Pendulum identifies as "he" because that was what the conciousness that ended up establishing dominance identified as. He has no physical sex to speak of.

Kimberley is heterosexual. Sorry, Keeper! O_O

I haven't decided for Aloise yet. I'll have to talk to her about it.

Uhh, I think that's all my characters so let me know if I missed one or you need some clarification or something.

I won't actually define things until I feel that it's relevant to the characters, but I do have to just pose this one question.

If the The Duchess propositions you, who in their right mind would take her up on that?

As to the characters I use that we know anything about:

Denner: Fiercely heterosexual nearly to the point of obsession.
Kahr: Fiercely homosexual nearly to the point of obsession.
Lukas: While not my character, we know two things about his sexuality. He was in love with a female angel, and he does not return the attraction Kahr has to him. Dav didn't say in his original write-up, and I didn't want to make that decision. My headcanon tells me Lukas is heterosexual.
Chardis: We know he had a major crush on Penelophine, so he's at least into girls. Probably heterosexual.
Syl: Not enough information. She has used her sexuality as a tool to manipulate men, but that doesn't speak to her actual orientation.
Penelophine: This hasn't been stated, but I think I've hinted at it enough.
Morgezka: She's a female dragon who is interested in human men. I doubt there's a term for that...
Antine: Not in the archives, but we know he's at least into human women.
Daneera: We really haven't seen any sexuality from her at all.
Raiker: Probably will try anything as long as he's in control, but we've seen him pursue an interest in women.
Nasperge: Not in the archives yet.
Lady Nasina: You've never even heard of her...yet...
Jade: No info at this time.

My only character is, of course, Kirsh, who's gay-but-in-a-way-that-seems-to-involve-being-attracted-to-masculinity-because-I-mean-he's-into-human-males-and-that's-pretty-far-removed-from-bird-biology-so-who-knows. it's complicated. [sounds of Alessa grumbling in the distance]

While I've only written for the characters and they're not mine, I feel a certain adoptive affinity for them so... I mentally peg Raleris as basically asexual these days but someone who in his younger days experimented with all sorts of things, and Vasilias as just repressed as hell which is a bit of a cliche I know but there it is.

I think she's going to start throwing stuff guys.

I guess I will at least codify Zhiran.

I'm legitimately not sure how disturbing sharing a bed with the Duchess would be, other than the very likely moment when you roll over and realize she's just sitting up in the bed staring at you.
