It sort of comes down to the fact that it is a mental mouthful and very unfamiliar. I can't even really come up with a cultural cue to attach to it to give it some shape. The closest that does is maybe something in the vaguely central African region, and those are... hard.

Mm, well, it might be kinda doing its job then since humans have trouble pronouncing it :3

Although I realized while looking up information on jade for this that:

Quote:
Nephrite consists of a microcrystalline interlocking fibrous matrix of the calcium, magnesium-iron rich amphibole mineral series tremolite (calcium-magnesium)-ferroactinolite (calcium-magnesium-iron).

So well played, basically, Raven.

Well played.

(I hope it's ok that I'm giving this pun away :P I was so impressed/angry when I realized it)

:D

I have no problem with it whatsoever. I like it when people notice that stuff. Maybe someday I'll tell you about another one that might blow your mind...

As to the name itself and Barinellos's point, let me say this: the name was chosen/designed to be awkward and difficult for humans, which is why she usually goes by Jade. I genuinely think what Keeper chose to do in these scenes with here is brilliant. In most of the story, she's "Jade," except in the dream scene of her own mind, where of course she'd be her own name and not the one she took after Raiker's actions and for the sake of the humans with whom she interacted. I thought that was an excellent touch!

[Predit]@Barinellos: I love that guy! What did we ever decide about that story, anyway? Was there some reason we never posted it, or did we just never get around to it?

No, I mean it's in no way a problem with Keeper's writing at all, because naturally she'd think of herself by the name she was born with, but it's still something that throws me out when I encounter it. There's just no happy solution to that.

About the story of wink wink nudge nudge, I think it was the dueling scenes that needed a little work.

Oh, sure. We'll have to take another look if our respective dance cards ever clear up a bit.

Which, let's face it, includes a dance between the both of us already.

Well, you are a damn fine dancer. I'd have thought all those tentacles would get in the way, but nope!

DAMMIT STOP MAKING MY SHIPPING WALL SO COMPLICATED

(Also thanks for the compliment Raven :3 I was rather pleased with that too if I do say so myself... and the difference in the description of her dream-self vs her actual self.)
