I'm sorry but I have to do this now.

For example, in my most recent story, I accidentally put boots on a snake, because my lazy brain just wants to assume that everyone can wear boots. Falling into the "can wear boots" portion of the multiverse Venn diagram is the sort of shortcut which I'm saying comes with thinking about humans.

THARS A SNAKE IN MY BOOT

I know what you mean though. I had a hard time, during the writing of Dominian Nightmares, remembering that Kirsh had wings. In retrospect, one of the many things I wish I had done differently is describing a bit more explicitly how he moves in space, particularly the human-designed spaces of the hospital.

@Raven:

You're probably right, but I tend to overthink things a lot.

The question of why Kirsh should be attracted to just one gender/sex of a range of species, though, is still causing me problems the more I think about it >_< But then I already am kinda confused by people who aren't attracted to uh kinda everything so that might be a problem with me more than anything else... But Denner's another good example of that. ...I don't remember totally well who that is but good example!

Although, I do wonder how Denner Fabellian goes about ranking the physical beauty of women of different species...

I guess I just assumed he did a 32-point inspection, like a mechanic.

I'm sorry but I have to do this now.

Hey, when I lob a softball like that, you never have to apologize for hitting it out of the park.

Denner Fabellian is the star of such M:EM accepted works as "Tears of the Djinn" and "Kiss of the Shorecerers," as well as [SPOILER]chapter One of The War of the Wheel (available now!).

On the one hand, I got lazy because Alessa is pansexual*. On the other, the Act is a part of her character and factors in to how she expresses herself around people. She's very sexually open, but there are physical things she has to take into consideration.

That being said though, as I pointed out, I have more nonhumans than I do humans and how they interact with their bodies is a part of all of that. Sri Hara, for example, has a trunk and tusks. Those things do make an impact on how he functions on a very basic level and the EXTREMELY LIMITED exposure he had fully capitalized that. Sri has bad eyesight, but his smelling is very powerful and that, in turn, really affects how he perceives the world.
I really want to do more with Sri, but I haven't found a story for him.

Similarly, Rishima is a MAJOR difference and I'd like to say her body language reflects her otherness, to say nothing of her personality.

Lastly on this list of the alternate body types, Huinn is a prime example, but I really hope that when the action starts up, you'll come to me so we can talk things out. You know who you are.

Now, switching gears:
One of the things I'd like to get established as part of the MEMETIC project is a walker's passport. Where they've been. It's just something to consider in the coming days, but it's something I've carefully thought about in my own characters.

*Her lover in Untitled is a satyr. Pan. Sexual. awesomeface.jpg.
I swear to the gods that wasn't intentional when I started.

...Is this what a religious experience feels like?

This pun. It's so. Beautiful.

The smell thing for Sri Hara is good to know for when I get around to writing about him and Kirshahahahahah who am I kidding. Regardless, that's fascinating.

The passport idea is very good.

I haven't gotten around to reading Untitled yet, but I do love that pun.

The passport thing is a great idea, but I don't think we can be (or would want to be) comprehensive. Take my Dual-Walkers, for example. They're over 2000 years old. They've probably been to a lot of places that I don't "know" about. Because, there's a ton of potential stories that others might want to pick up on.

That being said, getting an idea of what we DO know would be fantastic, and I think that would be a cool project for us, especially for our own characters. Tevish's timeline is a useful tool for this, as well.

No rush. I am kind of simultaneously amused and amazed at the views vs comments ratio though. It rather stunned me.

It's more a "Known Haunts" Rather than a clear map of their travels.

Except in Cara's case. her stories are actually tightly tied to her travels.
I really hate that I have so many stories basically already laid out with her and so much difficulty finishing anything involving her.

Yeah, that one we were working on ran into a wall for some reason. Man, I've got so much on my plate, and so much I want to do/finish. Seriously, I need to find a patron like in the old days.

.... Just gonna leave this here, dunno who I have to convince to work with me on it, but...
I want a Manticore.

...Also, what the hell?! It's weird when you end up finding other people are looking at an old thread.

I'm not sure it's thread-specific, just anyone else on that sub-forum at that time. For example, if you were talking about me (which you very well may not have been) I was not in this thread, but a different one.

Are manticores intelligent enough to be 'walkers? I mean, are they sapient?

Manticores in general are considered to be intelligent beasts.
Magic hasn't done enough with theirs to make a ruling one way or another, but DnD says yes.

I really want there to be not only more non-humans, but more non-humanoids. The only canon walker on a card which doesn't have a basically human physique is Bolas.

Of course, I am helping this case slightly with the Homarid walker I'm making for Adrisar (I need to develop him more...), but there's still so much untapped potential. So I am very much in favor of a Manticore walker.

So I decided to bring this thread back for a couple reasons.

One is because now we have a wiki. Yaaaay! This means that some of the discussions here have a more concrete basis.

For example:

Do we want to add "Known Haunts/Visited Planes" sections to the current 'walkers lists? I mean, it's pretty easy for me to modify the code to accommodate lists like that in the info boxes, it's just a matter of us compiling the info and adding it. Thoughts on that?

I still think this is a worthwhile thing to be aware of and consider doing more with in general, so that's a good reason to bump it.

And the wiki also is good for seeing other areas of weakness in our archive! Like the fact that there are a LOT of male characters. :/ I mean that'll change a bit once we add in a few more of the female characters from the old archive, and some of the new ones that folks have designed, but I think there's still going to be a significant deficit. It's something to be aware of, I think.

You make me want to dredge up my Planeswalker Contest 3 entries! Some of them were a bit cruddy, *coughAuricacough* but oddly enough out of something like nine rounds participated in, I made one and a half male entries (Larasa and Morgan were the one entry I pursued further)

I sort of like the idea of putting in known haunts, just because it gives us an idea of where's they've been and what they've (likely) seen and experienced. I don't think it's vital, but it might be useful.

As for female characters, I've got, like, three, who don't have dossiers yet, and have only been in one story so far (Penelophine, Morgezka Shanak and the new one, Jade), none of which are in the archives. The War of the Wheel will add at least one, too, with Nithka, and maybe some others that I won't spoil. But yeah, something to be aware of.

It might be worth revisiting that contest, yeah. I don't really remember most of my entries for either contest, actually, and there might be some worthwhile stuff buried there...

Or we could start murdering some of our male characters to bring the numbers more in line. O_O (Although I suspect that Raven might take care of that for us as we get further into War of the Wheel...)

And when (and if) Raiker Venn gets into the archives... :plot:

Having only contributed two 'walkers so far to the archives, I declare that I am blameless! BLAMELESS!

Drat, one of those 'walkers is male!

*Quickly writes Fisco Vane genderbend fan-fan-fiction*

Haha! BLAMELESS. O_O

In all seriousness, we... maybe could do with a few deaths? Maybe? ...I mean, Raleris is gonna kick it at some point, right? I mean, the main Magic Storyline has killed like... two 'walkers? No one cared about Venser, and honestly, is Elspeth really dead? Really?

I guess it's sort of par for the course for us, then. How many 'walkers do we have in the archives that actually are deceased though?
