Here are seven dossiers I've written, which I would like some feedback on if possible. Primarily, I just want to know if people think we should vote on these dossiers as separate entities, or simply accept them, considering the characters they are for are already accepted as part of the Archive. Thanks!
Antine
Name: Antine Author: RavenoftheBlack Classification: Fox Planeswalker Gender: Male Colors: White Availability: Public, Available
Antine is a Fox planeswalker from Jakkard. He is young, emotional, and very new to the Spark. He also tends to whimper and cry a lot.
==Appears In== The War of the Wheel
==Character Information== ===Appearance and Description=== Antine is a foxfolk, and therefore looks much like a fox, with large ears, an elongated snout, and a tale. Antine is short, around five foot tall, and very slender. Antine’s fur is something of an anomaly among Jakkard foxes. His fur is primarily a light gray color, but that fur darkens sharply around and below his eyes, yet his brow above his eyes and fur at the tip of his snout is white, giving him the appearance of a raccoon.
Antine typically dresses in the style of the Jakkard Wastes, with loose button-up shirts and tight baloth leather trousers with a hole cut for his long tail. He wears a Jakkard hat when he can, and in colder weather, a poncho, if he can get one. He is often seen without boots, although this is not by choice.
=== Personality=== Antine is a friendly and personable fox. He enjoys being around people and wants to feel loved. He is emotional and given to bouts of tears when the Multiverse is simply too overwhelming for him. He is intensely loyal to his friends, and has been known to put himself in harm’s way in an attempt to help or support them.
Antine is a fearful man, and has an extreme aversion to fear. At times, when a situation is particularly frightening for the fox, his conscious mind shuts off, and Antine runs away, literally thoughtlessly. This is a defense mechanism he has had since he was a kit. Unfortunately, many times this reaction causes more problems than it solves, because Antine at times finds himself blindly running into greater danger than he was running away from.
=== Powers=== Antine is a young and inexperienced planeswalker, and has an extremely limited command of magic. He knows no spells, and has never yet summoned a creature. The one power Antine seems to have innately is the mysterious ability to be able to get into places other people cannot. This power has apparently been a part of him going back to his early childhood when his blind running managed to get him trapped in an enclosed Baloth cage in the Verkell zoo. Once Antine’s planeswalker Spark ignited, the ability manifested itself again, allowing him to pierce Jakkard’s Crystal Ceiling and find his way to the Amphiseum. Antine has successfully used this ability intentionally, although only a few times.
Due to a bizarre set of circumstances, Antine has found himself in possession of a powerful magical artifact known as the Kahvan Saber. This artifact has given Antine access to another power, the ability to summon a massive cloud of arrows from a portal in the air. Antine dislikes the ability, and had only tried to use it a handful of times, most of which ended in failure. Still, it was Antine’s first foray into the magical arts.
===Friends=== Antine takes friendship very seriously, and his adventures have made him some special friends that he prizes dearly.
Lukas Harran – The second planeswalker Antine ever met, and the first who didn’t try to kill him. In many ways, Antine considers Lukas his best and oldest friend.
Daneera – The first planeswalker to open up to Antine and take him under her wing. Antine feels very close with Daneera.
Sundar Elarion – Sundar is Antine’s travelling companion, and a mentor in planeswalking and magic.
Kahr-ret-Taris – The first planeswalker Antine ever met. Antine now considers him a friend, but the fox is also deeply afraid of the pharaoh.
Morgezka Shanak – Antine feels badly for the angry dragon, but, as with Kahr, he is highly afraid of her. He considers her a friend, but suspects he is unlikely to see her again.
Antine is also on friendly terms with Denner Fabellian and Penelophine, also he doesn’t feel as connected with them as with the others.
Yeong Eode
Name: Yeong Eode Author: RavenoftheBlack Classification: Planeswalker, Cult leader Gender: Female Colors: Blue, Black Availability: Public, Available
Yeong Eode is an ancient Thalakos planeswalker. She is the absolute leader of the cult known as the Eternal Eclipse, and a master martial artist.
Appears In
Eternal Eclipse
==Character Information== ===Appearance and Description=== Yeong Eode is a tall woman with an unearthly presence. Her skin is pale, but gives off a slight white-blue glow, particularly in the dark. She has long black hair that hangs down past her shoulders, and has a tendency to move as if blowing in the wind, even when there is no wind to blow it. Along each side of her jaw, three small bones extend to sharp points, and the skin on her face is stretched over these bones.
Yeong Eode has a proud and confident bearing, and moves with an easy and natural confidence. Her presence is commanding, even regal. Her haunting appearance, however, is highly unsettling to those around her, and she has a tendency to inspire fear in those who meet her.
=== Personality and Beliefs=== Yeong Eode believes utterly in the necessity of strength. She created the Eternal Eclipse cult because of what she believes is an impending darkness that will descend upon the Multiverse, and she believes that none can stand against it, and only the strong will be allowed to serve it. To this end, Yeong Eode has created the Eternal Eclipse cult primarily as a martial arts organization, dedicated to strength through the martial arts in preparation for the coming doom.
As a consequence of her unwavering dedication to strength, Yeong Eode despises weakness, and seeks to snuff it out wherever she finds it. If she senses the potential for strength in someone, she will attempt to cultivate it, but she is often emotionlessly brutal in her methods, and more than willing to allow her subject to die as a result.
===History=== Very little is known about Yeong Eode’s past beyond the knowledge that she is an old-walker, and likely hundreds if not thousands of years old. At some point in her past, Yeong Eode began to search the planes for Fountains of Youth, as a method of prolonging her life and, perhaps, the lives of her most favored servants. She was successful in her search on several planes, although the only ones which are currently known are Quanyan, Ameshima, Hangu, and Nuwar. Yeong Eode established planar portals from the first three of these planes to a pocket plane containing her Temple, where the waters from the Fountains flowed to form a moat.
At some point, both to protect her fountains on those planes and to gather servants for the Eternal Eclipse, Yeong Eode began to recruit strong and talented warriors into her cult. On Ameshima, she cultivated the ninja clan Yorukage to act as her servants on the plane. On Hangu, she constructed the Iron Temple around the fountain, and created an order of warrior monks to serve her. On Quanyan, she manipulated and gained control of the local officials around the village of Jilong, where her fountain rests.
Penelophine is a Siren planeswalker. She ascended long before the Mending, but her natural Siren longevity has kept her young ever since.
==Appears In== The Cruel Finale The War of the Wheel
==Character Information== ===Appearance and Description=== Penelophine is a staggering beautiful Siren. She is tall and slender, with long, dark hair and stunning blue eyes. Her skin is smooth and tan, with just a slight blue tint to it. Her voice, unsurprisingly for a Siren, is melodic and lyrical.
=== Powers=== Despite being an old-walker, Penelophine is not particularly powerful. Most of her magic revolves around prismatic light refraction, whether she is creating a protective sphere of light or launching shards of light at her foes. She can also summon creatures, though typically these creatures are not very strong. She prefers to summon colorful birds and fish if she needs protection, usually small ones in large flocks or schools.
As a Siren, Penelophine also has strong natural magic in the form of her voice. The sound of her voice tends to have an effect on those who hear it, particularly those whose attractions lean towards females. However, her power really comes to the fore when she sings. She is capable of weaving her songs into a variety of different effects, most commonly to aid others in harnessing and focusing their own power.
=== Personality=== Penelophine was, at one time, a gregarious and sociable person, enjoying the companionship of others in either large social situations or in face to face encounters. However, after witnessing some of the more deplorable actions committed by others, particularly planeswalkers, Penelophine has become more of a recluse in recent centuries. She is now more reserved and guarded than she was in her youth, and often at least partially distrustful of others.
==History== Penelophine was born on the Alceme Isles on an unknown plane. There, she lived with her Siren Coven sisters and Matrons, until one day when pirates attacked them in force, slaughtering the Coven. Amidst the chaos, Penelophine’s planeswalker Spark ignited. The next thing she knew, Penelophine found herself in a small, village well, splashing and thrashing around in panic. The people of the village tried to save her, but Penelophine was disoriented and confused, and assumed the villagers were more pirates. In her confusion, she brutally destroyed everyone in the village with power she didn’t even know she had.
Eventually, Penelophine learned what she was, and more or less came to terms with being a planeswalker. In time, she met others of her kind and began to socialize with those who were willing to, avoiding those who preferred to duel. This was how she met Syl and Chardis, and was invited to the Amphiseum Games as a spectator. Despite the brutality of the Games, Penelophine became enamored with them, even though she was not fond of the Dual-Walkers themselves. She attended nearly every iteration of the Games from the time she was first invited until the final, disastrous Games.
After the final Games, Penelophine became deeply depressed, and retreated to her secluded grotto on the plane of Arbagoth. She stayed there alone for several centuries, rarely even leaving the plane, until the Forest Fire stuck, drawing Penelophine into the War of the Wheel. Now, Penelophine is once again wandering the planes.
Sundar Elarion
Name: Sundar Elarion Author: RavenoftheBlack Classification: Half-Elf Planeswalker Gender: Male Colors: White/Red Availability: Public, Available
Sundar Elarion is a half-elf tactician from the militaristic plane of Forculan. He was a student of Tharandias, the Sage-Marshal.
==Appears In== The War of the Wheel
==Character Information== ===Appearance and Description=== Sundar is a tall man with the physique of a warrior. Being from a plane that prizes war as an art form, Sundar makes it a priority to stay in shape. Sundar had long, dark hair and sharp features, and is usually clean-shaven.
Sundar Elarion usually travels in the same attire: an ornate breastplate inlaid with emerald and jade, a beautifully crafted long sword with a hilt to match his armor, and a large traveller’s bag. He wears unarmored trousers of dark brown or black in order to not restrict his movement, and simple leather boots that allow for quiet footfalls. Depending on weather conditions and the nature of the planes he travels to, Sundar will occasionally wear a travelling cloak over his armor.
Sundar Elarion is left-handed.
===Abilities=== In terms of his magic, Sundar is primarily a battlemage. He prefers enchantments that will increase his speed or strength, and spells that deal damage directly to his foes, like lightning bolts and fireballs. He is also well-versed in spells to shatter artifacts, as depriving his opponents of their weapons is a sound military strategy. Sundar Elarion is also gifted in spells to increase focus, particularly the complex focusing ritual of Forculan Sage-Marshals.
Sundar is also a skilled tactician and strategist. Sundar studied for years under Tharandias, the Sage-Marshal of Forculan, who was considered by some to be the greatest military mind in history. Sundar has an easy and firm grasp of strategy, but his true strength lies in tactics. Sundar is fantastic at improvisation in battle and using his environment to his advantage. Whether in one on one combat, or leading a troop of men, Sundar is a dangerous enemy.
=== Personality=== Sundar is usually sarcastic and disarming, but he does have a deep-seeded respect for tradition. While in combat, he is a master of trickery and misdirection, in conversation, he tends to be matter-of-fact to the point of being tactless, at times. He has a strong sense of right and wrong, and does his best to ensure he is on the right side.
==History== Sundar is still fairly young, and spent most of his time as a planeswalker under the tutelage of Tharandias, the Sage-Marshal. He was born out of the unlikely union of an elf mother and a human father. His mother was an elf from the dying elven kingdom of Thornbristle Valley who was disgusted with what she viewed as the elves’ growing weakness. She left the valley and joined Sundar’s father, a general in the neighboring kingdom of Cyristaile, and together they rode to and destroyed Thornbristle Valley.
In his youth, Sundar showed great promise in the military arts, and was chosen as a possible candidate to become a pupil of the venerable Sage-Marshal, the highest honor on Forculan. Tharandias selected Sundar as one of his potentials, and eventually, Sundar earned his place, although the struggle to do so resulted in his Spark igniting. Tharandias found him and led him back to Forculan, and began training him as his pupil.
In time, Tharandias and Sundar became entangled in the War of the Wheel with the Dual-Walkers, Syl and Chardis, and Sundar found himself opposing his mentor. The entire ordeal left Sundar hurt, broken, and wounded, but he eventually encountered the fox planeswalker Antine, who helped save Sundar’s life. In gratitude, and seeing a planeswalker in much the same situation he had been in when he first ‘walked, Sundar agreed to take Antine on as a companion, hoping to mentor the young fox as Tharandias had mentored him.
Thuzez
Name: Thuzez Author: RavenoftheBlack Classification: Human Planeswalker / Slimeomancer Gender: Male Colors: Red/Green Availability: Public, Available
Thuzez is a slimeomancer from Carghora, and a courtier in the Cavernous Court of Olasia Maggan, a powerful monarch on the desert plane. Thuzez is currently cursed with the unfortunate hex of always speaking in verse.
==Appears In== The Curse of Verse
==Character Information== ===Appearance and Description=== Thuzez is a man of average build, and just below average height. He has long black hair that falls straight and below his shoulders. Despite his hair being mostly straight, he has two long braids, one on each side of his face. The braid on his left is dyed green, and the one on his right is dyed bright red. His face is attractive, but covered in sharp points, from the eyebrows plucked to sharp points to the beard similarly trimmed. He has green eyes that are nearly constantly narrowed in annoyance.
As is the style of courtiers in the Cavernous Court, Thuzez wears extravagant clothing of fine silks and bright, flamboyant colors. He primarily wears a Carghora Vizier’s robe, which is a billowing top flowing into trouser bottoms in one connected piece, and always of three or more colors, typically greens, blues, oranges and purples. His choice of wardrobe, while very much in style on Carghora, makes it nearly impossible for Thuzez to blend in anywhere else.
===Abilities=== Thuzez is a master slimeomancer, which means he had an incredible command over sentient slimes and oozes. There are a few such creatures on Carghora, but most of Thuzez’s arsenal of slimes come from other planes, which allowed him to impress the other mages of the Cavernous Court, as it appeared to them as though Thuzez had either discovered new slimes or created them himself. It was this deception that allowed Thuzez to earn his place at court.
Thuzez’s entire experience with magic and even planeswalking is completely tied to oozes and slimes. The way he accesses mana is by visualizing the land and figuratively squeezing the excess mana out of it like an ooze. Similiarly, when he planeswalks, he visualizes himself taking a slime form and “oozing” through the cracks of the plane.
=== Personality=== Thuzez is a self-absorbed and arrogant jerk.
==History== Little is currently know about Thuzez and his history. He was born on Carghora, and began to study slimes and oozes there. At some point, his Spark ignited, and he spent some time travelling the planes, learning of more and more slimes, until he returned to Carghora, impressed the court mages, and earned a place among them. His full title is “Thuzez of the Uncountable Islands, Mage of the Endless Marble, Fourth Balcony Vizier to the Cavernous Court of Her Sacred Majesty Olasia Maggan.”
At some point in his tenure at the Cavernous Court, Raiker Venn arrived as a travelling poet, and was immediately adored by the court, particularly the women. Thuzez, both a self-absorbed narcissist and a womanizer, was immediately jealous. After realizing the futility of trying to compete with the poet, Thuzez instead went to him to ask him for help in wooing the women of the court through poetry. Raiker Venn therefore cursed Thuzez, forcing the slimeomancer to forever speak in verse.
Ever since, Thuzez has been searching for Raiker desperately, hoping to get the Poet to reverse the curse of verse before it gets worse.
Ethal
Name: Ethal Author: RavenoftheBlack Classification: Merfolk Planeswimmer Gender: Transgender Female Colors: Blue Availability: Public, Available
Ethal is a transgender mermaid warrior planeswimmer. She is new to the Spark, and has done only a little travelling.
==Appears In== Shell-Shocked
==Character Information== ===Appearance=== Ethal is a merfolk of slightly higher than average length, with broad shoulders and a tightly muscled abdomen. She has long, black hair which she lets flow in the water behind her, and scales of deep bluish green covering her tail from the waist down.
Ethal wears a pair of large, purple-pink shells over her pectoral muscles connected by manta leather and sharks’ teeth in the style of mermaids of her plane.
===Magic=== Ethal is primarily a warrior, and it is unclear what magic she wields. She is, however, very close to the rest of her school, and would likely summon her friends to battle if she needed assistance.
One magic that Ethal either does not possess or would refuse to use even if she did is transformation magic. The merfolk of some planes possess the ability to transform their tails into legs, a practice Ethal has not embraced.
=== Personality=== Ethal is a brave warrior and a loyal friend and companion. She is also highly competitive, although not viciously so, and a bit of a perfectionist. She has a nearly endless curiosity, but her dedication to her school is undeniable, and so she invariably returns to them after her comparably short bouts of wandering.
==History== Assigned a male body at birth, Ethal always felt trapped while she was growing up. She was a respected member of the school, being called by the male name Ethas for the majority of her life. She was born into a school of merfolk known as the Merfolk of the Maelstroms, named after the whirlpool-rich area the nomadic merfolk claimed as their ancestral home. A child of two of the most respected members of the community, Ethal had always been treated well, and was honored as one of the greatest warriors in the school.
However, Ethal was simply not comfortable, and she began to feel increasingly isolated from everyone else. Finally, she made her decision that she needed to explain things to someone, and she choose to speak to her mother, Iral. The conversation was not easy for Ethal, however, and during it, her emotions proved too strong, igniting her planeswimmer’s Spark and ripping her away from the plane. She wandered for a while, learning about the Multiverse and what wonders it held. When she returned to her home ocean, she was greeted by her school as a hero, and she herself understood a freedom she had never known before.
Nasperge
Name: Nasperge Author: RavenoftheBlack Classification: Human Planeswalker / Magician Gender: Male Colors: Blue/Red Availability: Public, Available
Nasperge is a carnival magician from the plane of Thorneau. He is an expert at sleight of hand, and a master at the prognosticative art of Aubedore card reading.
==Appears In== Between Two Worlds
==Character Information== ===Appearance and Description=== Nasperge has the appearance of a middle aged man. He is tall, but no longer trim and slender as he had been in his youth. His face is just beginning to wrinkle, and his hair beginning to gray. His face is typically covered in a short, scruffy beard that is turning white at a faster rate than his hair is. He eyes are dark and dull, and sagging just a bit at the corners.
Nasperge nearly always dresses in the showy, flamboyant garb of a street or carnival performer. Although he has several different combinations, his favorite attire consists of a bright red shirt, black trousers, and a long blue cape to denote him as a performing magician. Nasperge never goes anywhere without at least one deck of Aubedore cards, although where he keeps them is a mystery, as none of his usual attire has any pockets.
===Magic and Abilities=== Nasperge likes to keep his various powers a mystery until they are needed, and so the full breadth of his abilities are unknown. He has been known to use some simple pyromancy to conjure flames, but the range and severity of this ability are unknown.
Nasperge’s principle skill lies in precognition, specifically with the use of the Aubedore cards. Using the Aubedore patterns, Nasperge has proven himself able to divine hidden secrets or attributes of those he is giving the reading to, and even to predict with some degree of accuracy events yet to transpire.
=== Personality=== Nasperge is, above all else, a showman. He never tells anyone everything he knows, and he always seems to know more than he appears to. He is also a trickster, and more than willing to do things in abstract or roundabout ways for no discernable reason. Nasperge generally seems good-natured, although his true motivations are impossible to know, and Nasperge clearly likes it that way.
==History== As with many things in Nasperge’s life, his history is largely a mystery. He was apparently born on Thorneau, although even this has never been confirmed. It does seem to be the plane he most commonly returns to, however. His planeswalker Spark ignited sometime before the Mending, but how long before is anybody’s guess, as is how Nasperge is still alive today.
One of the few known encounters in Nasperge’s mysterious past is his association with Moira Trevanei on Aliavelli. While on the plane, Nasperge was helping the Temple explore the rare phenomenon of the Bridge Between Worlds, and Moira was an initiate there, helping, as well. The two became friends, and their friendship lasted for many years, even after Moira left the Temple and gave birth to her two daughters, Astria and Beryl. Nasperge would occasionally perform for them, particularly at birthday celebrations.
Hm, I don't have a lot to say about these, they look good to me and pretty much encompass what we know from the stories! I just had a few notes jotted down as I read:
"an elongated snout, and a tale." I'm assuming this is a typo and not one of your ubiquitous puns but like how can I really be sure???
Antine might actually be tall for a fox as I originally imagined them. Obviously he'd still be short compared to a human. Just a sidenote.
"hoping to get the Poet to reverse the curse of verse before it gets worse." Oh you.
"Assigned a male body at birth" I would say rather "assigned a male gender at birth"
"One magic that Ethal either does not possess or would refuse to use even if she did is transformation magic." This does seem like new information and I'm curious as to what Ethal's thought process is, and what your thought process is.
I like how Nasperge's information consists almost entirely of "yeah no one knows what the deal is with this guy" statements
...Aaand yeah I think that's all I have to say.
Anyone else have issues worth flagging before these go up?
Okay, here's the thing with Ethal. I realized as I was writing it that some merfolk in Magic canon can sort of naturally switch between tails and legs. This brings up some rather unique issues with Ethal, who is transgender. From a meta standpoint, I'm concerned this could be too close to wish-fulfillment, and seeing as how Ethal's story is already comparatively rose-tinted for the sorts of things she would likely be going through in real life, I'm concerned about how that might come across.
Then, from an in-world aspect, I started over-thinking this Keeper-style. Okay, so, a merfolk transforms and gets legs. Presumably, that merfolk also takes on human genitalia. So what sort of genitalia would Ethal get? If she gets female human genitalia, we're back into wish-fulfilment. If it's male, it serves as a more-blatant reminder of her struggle, which would be a reason she wouldn't want to do it. If it's either one, but the transformation is a temporary thing or some sort of illusion, it causes problems in the sense that it's "not real." None of these options seem like something that would be good for Ethal as a character or as a person.
Finally, while Ethal does have some gender identity issues, as we know, I don't think that she has any species issues. I think she likes being a mermaid, and has no interest in being or pretending to be human. Also, since learning she is a planeswimmer and caming out as her true gender to her people, I get the sense that Ethal has no desire anymore to pretend to be something she isn't, meaning human. That's why I think she rejects transformation magic.
If anyone disagrees with my thought process here, absolutely let me know. I am by no means an expert on merfolk psychology.
I don't know how short Jakkard foxes are *supposed* to be -- -- but, when Jackie holds Trotter, the way I've always pictured it is that his muzzle comes up about to the base of her neck, and his feet are dangling a couple inches off of the ground.
Which I guess would mean that, if he was standing next to her, his head would be about at the level of her chest?
Not sure if that's right or not, I guess. But that's how I've been writing it.

That's roughly how I've always pictured it too. How tall is Jackie again?
I just realized I forgot to respond to your response, Raven. That thought process with Ethal makes a lot of sense to me and I think is a good reasoning through of the situation. You may want to specify that it's the leg transformation magic you're talking about since that wasn't clear to me on the first reading, but yeah otherwise that checks out from where I'm standing!
That's roughly how I've always pictured it too. How tall is Jackie again?
The only description I've ever given is "taller than most." My guess would be that she's something in the range of, say, 5'7" ,5'8", 5'9"? She's not tall-tall, but she's tall enough to look most men in the eyes.
