Hello everyone, I am Tevish Szat. I am not exactly anyone important on these forums, or at least I do not expect to be, but allow me to welcome you here.

If you are new here, then I think it is good to start with a little history. These forums began in September of 2013 in response to the state of the official Wizards of the Coast forums. It was, in a word, untenable. The software used then, the policies of moderation, and many other things aside drove us to leave. But, at the same time, many of us had become friends there, and we did not want to say farewell. Thus, we all went to the same place.

I am writing these words in the immediate wake of the events described, knowing they shall likely endure when the dust of ages has settled over all that is described. But, our origin speaks in some ways to our goal here. We wanted to create a place where community could survive, flourish, and grow and we would not to have to fear dissolution at the hands of a power that was unaware what it had on its hands and of the damage it was doing.

Ultimately, I feel that if this place is to survive and flourish, we must stay close to our roots, which is to say a community. So, whether you came with us in the diaspora or found this place later, I welcome you. Whether you consider yourself a Vorthos already, or are just poking your head in to see what the fuss is about, I welcome you. It is my sincere hope that you will come to consider these forums a place of at least some amusement, and its peoples to be friends, as I am sure they shall come to regard you. So, please take a moment to introduce yourself, perhaps to read the introductions of those who have gone before. I am sure there will be quite a lot of chatter -- feel free to join in however you see fit. This place is our home. I hope it shall be yours as well.

As such, I would ask at this time that you treat this place as what it is. Please, regard your fellows with respect, and, this may seem a bit of an odd request: while criticism of work is perfectly reasonable, it will not be considered acceptable to make personal attacks against authors or artists. While we are a small group now, we do hope to grow, and we would rather like the people who write or illustrate for Magic: the Gathering to feel like they are welcome here as well.

Again, you can consider this place your home, just so long as you can remember it is home for others as well.

Welcome Home.

There are a few things that came up in previous threads that I want to mention. Specifically, I am going to make the bold assumption that most of us here would like to be friends with most of the other folks here. So when you go to post a reply, take a moment -- just a moment. Enter the full editor, hit preview post and read what you've written. I would like to believe that most people are pretty good and have a pretty good sense of what's appropriate or not, if they take that moment to look at what they mean to say. I hope we shall not have to change the thread rules to make certain topics off limits, because I think this community is full of intelligent people who can have good insights into just about any matter.

First Thread (Welcome Home)
Second Thread (Wrath of Welcome)

The First Thread won't load... "site not found."

Anyway...

I guess it's tradition I write you a poem,
For every new thread which has welcomed you home,
To tell you a little of who I might be,
And what, from my posts, you are likely to see,
So often in verse I express what I say,
(And I'll need to get back to this topic some day.)
The M:EM's where I spend most of my time,
Whether writing in prose or in rhythm and rhyme.
I've written some stories, both short and quite long,
And have penned some bizarre, amelodical songs.
I have also been witnessed to utilize puns,
Like a glue-covered shootist, I stick to my guns.
If you think this rhyme's bad, it could be so much worse,
But still, here's the end of my Welcoming verse.

The picture is from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I don't know if it's been doctored (for color, for instance), but that not crab-goose hybrid is called Groose. He's... you know what, just play the game.

Hello, I'm Cato. I am a nihilist who believes that a large number of the ideas that we as a society build our lives around do not correspond to any patterns in reality.

I'm Sam Keeper! I am extremely pretty and nonbinary! I founded the Magic: Expanded Multiverse! Most of the time I hang out down there rather than up here, because mostly I'm interested in constructing a cohesive body of knowledge for the storyline, and that's not a huge priority in the community these days. Still, anytime someone starts digging up old storyline information, I tend to re-materialize.

Humble and so modest too.

I have a theory that names with a total of 3 syllables sound the best when spoken aloud.

Hi, I'm Jman22, and I'm terrible at Magic and have nothing to brag about. I like ducks, goblin pikers, and beer.

I'm TPmanW. I've died more than once, but my love for these forums was such that I continued posting even in undeath*. My personal hobbies are playing with words, examining society, musing about joining the M:EM but not actually doing anything and initiating grand projects** I will never finish. I always grade my contests though. And I give out prizes. I run Card Of The Week (COTW) on the YMTC board which makes me super important. I consider my self eminently reasonable and fair-minded. If you don't agree with that you're a jerk and a stupid.

Howdy, I'm Dr. Demento. I really don't come down here that often, I enjoy Magic's flavor but I have little to say about it. I prefer to keep tabs on M:EM because they are good writers and excellent company.

So we're all re-introducing ourselves in case new folks show up? OK...

Hi I'm Arcades Sabboth. I mostly help with archiving canon flavor sources for future generations of vorthosi, and ponder maybe one day writing for the M:EM again. Except when I'm not here. I tend to wander off and not be around for months or years at a time before planeswalking back in. I used to play casual and EDH but haven't got anyone to play with anymore.

I'm a person, but I prefer to play in the game.
I started playing during Revised and Fallen Empires and was pretty much immediately a Vorthos. But it took me years to find out there were comics, novels, and an online community, so I missed out on a lot of cool stuff. I'm trying now to collect novels.

Let's continue the tradition of introducing ourselves to people we already know perfectly well.

I'm Yxoque. I have no idea what I'm doing here anymore. I don't play Magic. I haven't followed the story for two blocks now and my presence in the M:EM waxes and wanes with my mental energy. Still, I keep coming back because this is the nicest community I've ever been part of.

Some tidbits about me:

  • I like the color Blue. Both in terms of the cards as in the actual color. I'm also a Ravenclaw, which also has Blue in it.
  • I just got Netflix
  • There's no way Marvel is going to make Miles Morales Spider-man from the start and that's a [redacted] shame.
  • I've been told my beard-game is strong.
  • In multiplayer games, I tend to play support roles. Love playing them.
  • Pacific Rim is awesome.
