I love how even in universe Atraxa and the other white-aligned leadership are wandering why the thanes were allowed to live.

I really dislike this set so far. I can't put my finger on what it is though.

Of alle the planeswalkers compleated so far, Ajani and Tamiyo still impact me the most emotionally.

- Lukka, Vraska, Nahiri and Nissa are in my opinion not the most likeable characters, so i don't care either way.
- Jace does go to the feels, but i can imagine him being un-compleated later on by Melira, and i don't like him half as much as Tamiyo or Ajani.

Dumb Nahiri being dumb as usual. Cool compleated design though

I'm kind of surprised how faster walkers went from "They are impossible to compleat" to "a scratch will turn them." I was under the impression that the conversion process for them was difficult in some way.

I've been hearing it bantered around that we know which walkers will be compleated but I'm not sure which ones will be. The Squee story revealed that compleation technically kills someone (Squee's soul was looking for his body as I recall) but I think the Tezzeret story implies that the walkers aren't the same and they're still technically alive. I'd put money down on Jace using that "personality within a personality" or hiding memories thing to essentially become a sleeper agent against phyrexia in an ironic twist.

I was also surprised to see so many partially compleated Mirrans on new phyrexia. I don't understand why they wouldn't have been processed by now especially since they aren't hiding? It doesn't make sense to me but I may also just be missing something. I am also surprised by the disunity of the white phyrexians.

For planeswalkers, I thik they unnecessarily complicated things. The only reason oldwalkers were immune was because they had no true flesh and blood bodies (and Yawgmoth wasn't offering compleations to everyone like New Phyrexians are).

Neowalkers are flesh and blood, so they should logically be fit for infection. Particularly now that Jin-Gitaxias improved the oil.

The stories have been a mess so far in my opinion.
Everything happens at breakneck speed...compleating Planeswalkers used to take time an effort when it was introduced (very shockingly i must admit) with Tamiyo just under a year ago (and even less in in-story time).
In this story Lukka is turned and compleated faster than you can say 'New Phyrexia'. I really loath this story thus far...not because of the writing itself, but because it is a rushed, jumbled mess as a storyline.

Two thumbs down from me.

Compleation is the final* step of converting a being into a phyrexian, its the process in which the beings biological parts are replaced with metal replacements and the being will die from it and brought back/kept alive using necromantic magics. Due to basically killing the subject and the removal/harm to their soul, planeswalkers would lose their sparks and the compleated former-pw being would be unable to planeswalk. This what Jin figured out how to prevent and maybe the pw soul might still be there.

Before Compleation many beings can come into contact with the oil which will start infecting and corrutping their minds and causing mutation in them to preapre them for full compleation. Melira and other healing magics can stop it in the starts of this stage. At a point they will end up dying from it or they will find other phyrexians to help compleat them. So far all the walkers seem infected with the oil and haven't been fully compleated. Lukka is pretty far gone but I think thats a lot more from him bonding with a phyrexian beast and having it take over him then him being fully compleated.

That said, yeah everything has been rushed, since the return to online the story has been more room to breath than the 5 chapter they are giving them.

*phyrexians will still upgrade themselves ect but at this point a being is considered a phyrexian hence being "completed"

Mm, no story today. Either yesterday was a lucky fluke or it's against WOTC's religious beliefs to be useful on Sundays.

Welp, thanks Kaito and Kaya, now the universe is doomed because of your stupidity. You make Lukka look like a genius

Upon reflection there was some cause for concern since the sylex blast did affect the Blind Eternities before, but it was still so idiotic and imagining Elesh Norn and Nissa eating oily popcorn while the poopfest went down is too good to pass.

I wasn't actually around for the lead up to invasion and everything, my first sets were Portal and Planeshift.
So I have to wonder if the disgust and indifference I feel now is what everyone back then experienced at how they handled the Phyrexians.

My first intro to magic was the original Mirrodin block, when I started reading the novels. It's always hard to return to new phyrexia and see what they've done to my entry point. These stories in particular felt unfulfilling. It left me feeling rushed and pointless as the heroes arrived too late to stop the bad guys as the trope goes but they also lost so many of their number. They, perhaps, at best killed Tibalt and lost Jace (who could be an incredible asset to Phyrexia), Vraska, Nissa (also potentially a great asset), Lukka, and Nahiri. Not sure how Tyvar and Ajani turned out and Elspeth basically threw herself on a grenade.

I honestly don't know a lot about the Sylex but is it really capable of destroying a world? The entire universe? I know Dominaria survived the explosion though they suffered greatly so it seems a little farfetched for the bomb to threaten all of reality. Also, on a bit of a logistical level, where did they get *millions* of forces to invade with??? Mirrodin was not THAT populous to begin with so have they been kidnapping people for a long time?

I'm guessing we're going to see various planes fighting Phyrexians and I hope some planes pull a New Capenna and win against them. I do not look forward to "here's a phyrexianized version of something you thought was cool!" for multiple planes. I expect to return to Ravnica and see some guilds getting compleated.

I'm just tired of cool and pretty things being twisted and mutilated for the shock factor. It isn't compelling to me, I don't get an urge to "fight for them" I just lose interest. Although I do find it kind of funny how little Nissa matters as anything more than a plot device. She was a secondary character in Lukka's story and got hunted, captured, and compleated entirely off screen.
