Present tense stories are almost always a bad choice and this especially was rife with passive voice.

Not a great initial showing in my opinion.

A bit of surreal horror I quite like.

So apparently there will be mono- vampires. Wonder how they'll be flavoured.

I feel they'll probably lean towards repentant vampire in theme.

Sorin is a black/white vampire. I could see some vampiric house attendant or markovian butler also being white.

The part in the first story about the kid taking his mother's blood was chilling & good imo, I wish they would have the humans of planes that aren't legendary creatures sometimes not be random disposables that set the scene but u know, too much to hope for i guess

The author is doing a nice job showing the layers there is to Sorin.

Interestingly the two examples thus far seem pretty normal. There's a cleric that's just there to marry the two and a waltzer leading in a dance.

I hope they address this somehow; I like the unapologetic evil vampires but I'd like an explanation about how they differ from the others.

The second story in the main storyline was very poor I thought. I like Olivia's flair, though.

I wish that Chandra's romance with Adeline was done in a more organic way instead of just being shoved in ('she smelled good', wtf)

It feels like (and I know it's because of mechanical/popularity reasons) they just pick random characters for every set and don't care about their history at all.

Quote:
"But that doesn't make any sense," Chandra says. "Not even a plus-one?"

"You can definitely afford to let more people in," says Kaya, gesturing at their gilded armor. "It isn't a matter of scarcity."

"And if you want to make sure all of Innistrad bows to its new lady, then you need investment from everyone," says Arlinn. "You can't just invite vampires."

"It's bad form," agrees Teferi.

What on earth is teferi doing this **** for? He's an ancient being who's been central to the mtg storyline since literally before I was born, arguing about wedding invitations doesn't seem very him.

He's also an incorrigible prankster and troll, levity in an ocean of oldwalkers that take themselves way too seriously. This is not new.

No, but his investment in hanging around these children is very artificial.

Coming into this thread a bit late after finally catching up.

I don't have much to say about the planeswalker stories. They've been fine.

I really liked The Edge of the World, though. I think it nailed the kind of spooky, bleak atmosphere you get from stuff like Dracula. It's a shame we didn't learn more about Eloise, but Jacob was a really interesting character.

With The Blessing of Blood, I'm not entirely surprised that Odric is a "good" vampire, but it was a bit disappointing for them to give the story such a hopeful ending. It gave the feeling that there were no negative consequences to the transformation, which feels like kind of a cop-out. This is the first time an established character has been turned into a vampire, and he's just... fine.

Yeah I read the time spiral novels recently. Like most mtg novels they were 0/10 would not recommend but I would not peg Teferi as caring about this sort of thing. Also I control F'd like 3 of the stories and Teferi's name was in them like 4 times, so why is he even there anyway? Also he hasn't done anything prankster-ish or troll-ish in these stories anyway I don't think.

Like I actually like Chandra (even if her art and characterization fluctuate between having her be 13 and like 30), I like Sorin, reading long segments of Sorin is always a laugh. I like Olivia, Geralf/Gisa, Thalia. All of the actual Innistrad characters I like a lot.

For what it's worth I really liked the side story with Teferi and Wrenn (the side stories are always better!)
