Considering how many hours we all spend playing MTG and other Wizards products, I'm really surprised by the lack of good stories and fanfiction out there for these worlds. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good source for this? I've seen the communities on Fanfiction.net, Archieveofourown, and Wattpad. Are there any others?

I'm looking for good reading material, but I'll admit, I do have an ulterior motive. I'm writing a story based on a D&D campaign set in Ravnica. In my opinion anyways, it's better than the old Agrus Kos books. Want to share it, but I haven't been able to find a good community to share it with...

Would love to hear some opinions about MTG stories whether they are the pulp fiction Wizards publishes or just fan works! Thanks in advance

Well, I don't think there's another forum you could have chosen that is more particularly suited to the query at hand.

The Expanded Multiverse just below this section is all about the creation of fan works set in the multiverse. That said, we only occasionally and fairly lightly touch on canon. We mostly create our own world and characters using the ideas (planeswalkers, Mana, etc) in the frame work of our craft. There are a decent number of pieces that use canon worlds, but we're a lot more cautious using canon characters.

We're always up for people to check out what we've done and we've got a massive back log of material, including stuff that uses canon worlds (a pretty decent number set on Ravnica alone). Heck, one of our members has a full blown novel.

So, if you're looking for stuff to read or to just talk shop, were just one door down.

You're in the right place here.
This is quite possibly the world center of MTG fanfiction. The big fanfiction sites might have more content overall but I wager we have the highest concentration and almost certainly the most the best quality MTG fanfiction on the net. And I say that as somebody who's not even a M:EMber*.

At least we hope it'd be. We have the biggest amount of fanfics but archiveofourown and tumblr MTG fics are twice as popular.

Yup, and I'm not truly surprised by that. Most fanfics tend to use canon characters above all (somebody said AU?) and main characters are the foremost attraction in the current MtG lore as well. The second attraction is usually the setting, and we M:EMbers ditch more or less half of it by just tiptoeing at the outskirts of canon planes and having most of our fan in fanmade planes. Thus our fics require more commitment than common AUs, which explains the lower popularity.

Also, do we really have the biggest amount of fics? What meter are you using for this? Tumblr fics must be hell to keep track of and having several unarchived fics doesn't do us any favors I guess

Also pt.2: how do you measure popularity? We certainly have no way to compare kudos :V

PS: Ravnica is an awesome place for setting both over-the-top and dark cloak and dagger campaigns in, my GMing efforts have been drawn to it as well.

Counting alone produces far more here than on archiveofourown and fanfiction.net. Tumblr fics are harder to account for but like half of mtg fan tumblr blogs are dead and few produced fanfics anyways.

Has anybody shared some of the M:EM fics around to lure in new members?

Not since certain former members effectively shut down the MEM tumblr.

Was there only one person who had access? I remember it was a pretty snazzy looking tumblr.

There were three of us, but due to outside factors, it more fell on one person who started making unilateral decisions which others weren't really comfortable with.

As to the looks of the page, why thank you. I did the majority of the graphics for it.

I post all my fanfics in my archiveofourown and fanfiction.net but I don't know if I've linked to here.
