I think Venser and Dovin would also be artificers.

With warlock being a type now I could see Bolas as one of those.

Ajani- Legendary Creature- Cat Cleric Warrior

Ajani main thing is a healer/booster/supporter so cleric fit. I'd wanna add warrior since he's also a decent fighter.

I think Shaman is a better fit over cleric considering the Nacatl culture.

Quote:
Sorin- Legendary Creature- Vampire Nobel Knight (once Human Nobel)
Knight seems to kinda fit Sorins combat skills and I don't think he's quite a warlock.

As handy as he is with the Parasite Blade, like 90% of his repertoire is in magic.

Quote:
Tibalt- Legendary Creature- Devil Human Warlock (once just Human Warlock)

I mean, the Azra are a thing, but it's... complicated with Tibalt.

Quote:
Domri-Legendary Creature- Human Rebel

Just Druid would probably be more accurate.

Quote:
Dack -Legendary Creature- Human Artificer Rouge

While he doesn't built artifacts Dack magic was related to them

Yeah, but so is Manic Vandal. He doesn't really have any good justification for artificer.

Quote:
Ob Nixilis -Legendary Creature- Demon Warlock Solider (Formerly Human Warlock Solider)

Ob was a general so I think he would be a Solider.

It's a bit complicated, because while he was a general, it was really HIS army and not some lord giving him orders.

Quote:
Angrath -Legendary Creature- Minotaur Artificer (Pirate on Ixalan)

I'd argue that being a blacksmith doesn't make you an artificer. More appropriately would probably be warrior.

Quote:
Jaya -Legendary Creature- Human Shaman Monk

I'll fight to retain Spellshaper on her type line.

Quote:
Rowan and Will -Legendary Creature- Human Knight

Noble rather than Knight

Quote:
Teyo -Legendary Creature- Human Cleric

Not sure if Teyo as a shield mage is a cleric or a wizard.
Monk, actually

Quote:
Serra -Legendary Creature- Human Cleric
I mean... can you be a cleric to yourself?

Quote:
Lukka- Legendary Creature- Human Shaman
I'd argue that Soldier is more apt. He has an innate talent for bonding skills, but I don't think he'd view himself as a shaman as he has no training in such while he's spent most of his life in the guard.

Yes on Venser I went back and forth on Dovin. He wasn't so much a builder as an inspector even then thats more of what his magical skill would be best used on a plane like Kaladesh.

Warlock (and a few other types) haven't that well defined but warlock is meant to be a mage who tapped into dark powers/makes deals with dark forces for power (to lean on the DND flavor). To me that makes me feel like their would be warlocks to Bolas as well as Bolas knowing more than just "dark" magics makes me lean to wizard more but I think if Warlock is more fleshed out he could fit.

That does fit more with Naya and such I like it better.

As well as what Azra are full, as devils and demons are different being in mtg.

Yes on Druid though his whole flavor identity was being the most rebellious punish rebel.

Yeah wasn't full sure if he'd fit

Yeah but still warrior or knight doesn't quite fit.

Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith and Stone Forge Mystic are what I went on.

Since Jaya whole thing to keep her and Chandra somewhat different is that Jaya is more controlled and precise while Chandra is bigger and more chaotic I think Spellshaper would be a better fit than Shaman

Quote:

Rowan and Will -Legendary Creature- Human Knight

I forgot they would be Nobles (even if they aren't princess and prince). But they also do use a lot of more fighter skills then just magic, though due to spacing I could see it dropped.

Serra -Legendary Creature- Human Cleric

Well I was thinking again more DnD-healer/good mage for Cleric but that could be a very dark base for a character.

Wizard is what Venser is on the card, so there's no real fighting it.

Yes on Druid though his whole flavor identity was being the most rebellious punish rebel.

But he's not really a rebel, he falls exactly in line with what the Gruul are about. He's a shrimpy little vandal with a golden child complex but he's nowhere near organized enough to earn the rebel typeline.

Nazahn, Revered Bladesmith and Stone Forge Mystic are what I went on.

The difference being there's something mystical or special about what those two do, while Angrath... is a mundane blacksmith. Maybe he uses magic to stoke fires, but he's sufficiently run of the mill that he probably doesn't earn the artificer type.

Domri might not be a rebel amongst the Gruul, but the Gruul are the rebels of Ravnica, so I'd say it works. I don;t see how you have to be well organized to be a rebel.

I really don't see magic as a prerequisite to be an artificer. I never took Renowned Weaponsmith to be magical.

I'll concede the point of the smith, but not the Gruul.
The Gruul ARE part of the power structure of the world. They aren't rebelling against it, they're feeding into it.
You'd have to grant all the opposition guilds, the Dimir, Rakdos, and Golgari all rebel types.

Part of why I'm picking on this so fervently is because Wizards ignores things like Rebel. I WANT to see Rebel and Nomad and Mystic and a host of other types that have nuance instead of the 705th soldier card. But if they've no intention of meaningfully using it, then I say we need to adhere to those same rules.

Rebel is in general a weird type to have since most rebel characters aren't typed rebels.

The Gruul do differ from the other guilds in that they're not part of the guildpact, so they're really acting against the system. However, they firmly believe in social darwinism and Domri follows the biggest, hottest dragon he finds, so they're not as much acting for the freedom of others as much as their twisted version of natural selection.

Thus, you can rgue they're fascists like every other guild.

Why do you say this? They signed the Guildpact too. They no longer play the same role they initially had, but they are still one of the ten guilds.

They were written out of the guildpact, at least in the original trilogy. The Boros no longer defended them and the Orzhov enslaved them and yadda yadda.

I don't think they were officialised in the new guildpact either given how they act. Or maybe they were and they're just pricks like everyone else and need to die.

Just because they caused enough anarchy to claim their own territory doesn't mean they weren't still counted in among the magically enforced contract they signed.
And it's disingenuous to say the Orzhov enslaved them. The Orzhov enslaved EVERYONE.

I'm fairly confident they were included in Teysa's Guildpact too. And I'm damn certain they were part of Jace's debacle. They got their voice, they had their representation. They're just anarchist jackasses.

Edit the original post with the suggestions.

After thinking on with Domri I decided to drop Rebel due to the point that the Gruul are a guild. While they have been give the **** end compared to other guilds, the magic of Ravnica still needs them with the other nine to work. If Domri was more gateless or stated he only was using the Gruul for own ends I think there could be more to say he's a Rebel but Domri did appear to agree with the Gruul ideas as much as most guild member do with other guilds.

So Tevesh Szat...not sure where to even start lol. He was human and turned to whats been said to be a dragon but not sure if demon and/or horror would also be right. Also berserker seems like the right class as all he did really want and seems to do want destroy civilizations and bring silence.
