Hey Mark, since you linked the story article earlier, can you confirm or deny that Ikoria will be getting a summary like that or something a little longer? Ps. When we gonna get an Un-story?

Ikoria will have a story, not just a summary.

Well, let's get the foundation of this thread started I guess.

Aw, I was looking forward to another horrific "story through the cards" disaster summed up at the last second.

I'm cautiously optimistic for the Kaiju plane being something new.

That first image is not official Ikoria art at all. It's just Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner and some other monster photoshopped together for an Aether Hub video thumbnail.

I still don't think Kiora will be involved, because having a story about Kiora on a plane called Ikoria would sound incredibly silly and would probably also confuse new players.

I'm definitely getting Monster Hunter vibes from that ad card, though.

ikoria is an anagram of I, kiora. Coincidence?

Ah.
I see Vivian is the figure in the insert.
It'd be nice to work out what her story might be now that her vengeance is done, at least in her mind.

Vivien is the more eco terrorist form of Garruk so she is probably looking for some big monsters to shove into her magic bow to continue her plot irrelevance.

She really should have been the antagonist in Rav 3 alongside Domri

Couldn't have happened. Her entire deal was to murder Bolas since he destroyed her world.

Maybe they'll be mega righteous and mega good fighting against a antagonist who represents the evils of greed, with maybe one nutcase on the side.

My biggest takeaway: They're printing at least one new Brushwagg. THE DAY OF THE BRUSHWAGG IS UPON US!

I'm expecting this to be the most interesting set in a while.

Wexler's back for the Ikoria e-book. He did great work on The Gathering Storm, so I'm looking forward to this, although I am keeping my eye on the fact that we are seeing another returning author instead of more new blood.

e-book means I'm out.

Just checked out the Ikoria spoilers... I mean, they lost me as a regular customer years ago, but it's still sad to see they've officially run out of ideas AND self-respect.

What happened, did WotC do a Bring Your Child To Work Day three years ago, and this is the result?

Love the world building, its very much Tarkir done right, down to the overlords being tyrants instead of being portrayed as in the right.

However, Vivien is extremely annoying as a narrator. I do hope they make her the villain, since there's a potentially less obnoxious POV main character.

I love fantastical ecosystems and landscapes, so the triomes are exciting, and fantastical architecture, so Skysail and Lavabrink are especially cool. The apex monsters look like they all match W=Cat, U=Elemental, B=Nightmare, R=Dinosaur, and G=Beast.

Beast is especially underwhelming as a creature type now.

I love the cave painting art.

The new planeswalker is Lukka and was a soldier in Drannith. His partner is/was Jirina Kudro, the daughter of the general of Drannith. He is realizing he is a bonder and is feeling pulled away from Drannith.

It's essentially Tarkir by way of Zendikar, except without the crappier parts of each.

ok, without MOST of the crappier parts of each. **** green planeswalker notwithstanding.

y'know, I think the worst part of Vivien being here is they screwed Garruk up so monumentally that they can't use him here.
