So maraxas had the idea for a set where all wars are waged through economics. Money is power, spells are bought at auctions, and other silly things. We were trying to think of how each color would handle such a world.

Red would play the stock market. High risk, high reward and tons of excitement and emotion.
Green would buy property and improve it, house flipping, making farms, probably turning broken down buildings into new fancy restaurants to people.
white: Maybe some sort of corrupt charity? No idea.
Black functions like many from the 80s: Buy companies and gut them for parts, making millions at the expense of a lot of jobs.
Blue would do what blue does. Company spies, lots of cheating and pirates. Think East India Trading Company with magic.

White might not even actually care and have a bunch of poor people living together and sharing stuff, or maybe they accept or give charities? OR tithing, since taxing is a white thing o:

Yeah, I like white as a regulatory body.

Improvement through technology seems very anti-green. Green could be played in a number of ways, I think. I imagine green's biggest thing would be land conservation/preservation, which ranges from protected forests and parks to historical preservation societies to sustainable industry like eco-tourism over hunting. One could focus on green as a predator also and switch it to full capitalist (but I think green can't really go full capitalist); or I can see green becoming labor, unions and worker cooperatives.

I can see blue as what you're saying, but I like blue as the master of technology. Not just creating amazing new products but mastering market research, maximizing efficiency, and coldly examining cost-benefit. Maybe a massive consultation firm that does all this latter stuff for hire, but that also puts the firm in the board rooms of all the biggest corporations, allowing them to amass and control trade secrets.

They don't improve through technology, they improve with art and magic and stuff. I don't think there should be any forests or anything. It should just be cities everywhere. Unfortunately Ravnica already stole that so I dunno.

I had an idea where mana literally takes the form of currency. Walkers would discover this and flock there to turn their mana bonds into gold FAST!

I like that nature preservation/agriculture thing for green. Mana currency could give this a sort of zendikar feel, but maybe if the currency was mana itself we could have the mechanic be a lot of creatures have the ability of Upwelling, and so it creates some tension where maybe you don't want to kill your opponent's guy because you can store some mana for next turn? Random idea spouting :v

By 'technology', I mean 'the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, and methods of organization'. In land development, art is definitely a technology. Like a farm makes 'untouched' land into a function of civilization through the technologies of irrigation, plowing, etc. It's the whole green is wild animals, white is domesticated animals thing.

Green is too stereotypical and I don't like it.

Green, I think, should be full on capitalist. Green shares with Black the idea of social darwinism (albeit at a different angle, as in "the strong are determined by fate" instead of being ambitious) and has an obsession with the system, so in this world Green can actually be the most noxious, industrial and evil of the colours.

I actually really like this idea. Like lily said, Ravnica is a thing so the world would be a little harder. An Art Deco setting could be cool for this set. Also, if your mixing up greens role (which you should), you should also mix up blue, because it really irks me when blue is always just so neutral. Make up your mind, blue. god.

I think you can split green between your labor unions and the stock market. Black's the guy who tries to manipulate the stocks, while green just lets shares rise and fall as they will.

First: I can't help but notice that this looks suspiciously like a worldbuilding thread, which should belong in a forum like the M:EM or the Creative Corner. Is there any good argument for why this deserves to belong in AF&S?

Second: Broccoli are flower buds, not trees. You should have used heart of palm for your example.

If green were to go full-on capitalist, I think green would think a lot more long-term than traditional or contemporary capitalists. It would think in terms of profits over decades rather than quarterlies. It would care about being able to sustain; I just don't see green going so fully predatory capitalist that it starts polluting and consuming beyond its means for profit.

There is more to green than tree-hugging.

idk who said that tree-hugging was the only thing green is about.

Broccoli are tree cabbages.

Anyway, I had no idea mem was for worldbuilding, and I would rather stay away from CC.

0_o what did you think the M:EM was for?
Essentially, anything fan-made that doesn't fall into YMTC territory can go to the M:EM, though some expansions of official material does stay in the AF&S, like, say, Raven's Rhymes thread.

Why can't worldbuilding go in this thread? We seem as interested as EM would be.
