BY DAVID GRIFFIN Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo are taking their creative talents to Netflix to develop an all-new animated series based on the Magic: The Gathering franchise.
Per Netflix, "The Russos will oversee the creation of an all-new storyline and expand on the stories of the Planeswalkers, which are Magic’s unique magic-wielding heroes and villains as they contend with stakes larger than any one world can hold."
Henry Gilroy (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jose Molina (Agent Carter) will serve as co-showrunners on the series. For a first look at the show, check out the teaser image below:

"We have been huge fans and players of Magic: The Gathering for as long as it has been around, so being able to help bring these stories to life through animation is a true passion project for us,” said Joe and Anthony Russo. The series will be animated by Bardel Studios. You may have seen some of Bardel's work on Rick & Morty, Teen Titans Go!, and Netflix's The Dragon Prince.
While the plotlines and settings in Magic: The Gathering can change dramatically, they generally always revolve around Planeswalkers, magic users who can jump between different worlds and universes called Planes. The Russos’ show will be a new story that doesn’t follow one that’s already been told, but it could still use some of Magic’s more iconic and recurring Planeswalkers like Jace Beleren or Nicol Bolas.
