And thus was it Cho-Manno's fate to have his image used for everything he stood against, marketed to the young and disaffected who couldn't yet realize the irony of the Mercadian textile industry profiting off their vaunted chief opponent of the depredations of Mercadian economy and commerce. I realized The Brother's War is a puffed up ripoff of Nine Princes in Amber. You plebs have probably never heard of it. But I associated the "Cho-" thing with chi, and Manno with mana. I figured they wanted something that sounded holistic and natural to stand in opposition to the more industrious Mercadians (this sounds a lot like Mercantile/Merchant to me). |
