We probably all have them: specific 'blanks' in the storyline that we would like to see filled and read more about. Imagine for a moment that realistic business constraints didn't apply and you could choose which parts of the storyline you'd like to see expanded on (in novels, short stories comics, whatever). Which parts would that be?

For me, that would be pretty much everything connected to Jeff Grubb's Ice Age trilogy. For starters, there would be enough room for two or three more novels between The Gathering Dark and The Eternal Ice. I'd love to read more about Jodah's time in the City of Shadows and what made him move the School to Lat-Nam eventually, or about how Jodah realised he doesn't age anymore and how he reacted, or about the people who apparently set out to find the Fountain of Youth and what happened to them, or what Lord Ith was up to (did he ever meet Jodah again?) or Tivadar's goblin crusade, or Freyalises post-revisionist ascension and how Jodah helped her to not go insane, or Jodah's first meeting with Jaya Ballard, or the cities and nations of the Ice Age emerging etc. There should also really be a Coldsnap novel and more stories about Jaya as a planeswalker, especially about her showing up on Regatha and about her death (because one does not simply kill Jaya Ballard off-screen. There should be a Boromir-meme about that). Also, Leshrac and Lim-Dûl's war on Shandalar, or basically a post-revisionist novelisation of the Shandalar comics and the computer game.

Other stuff I'd be interested in includes
- the sequel to the Kamigawa trilogy that Scott McGough had plans for
- two or three novels about the ancient history of Ravnica (Oldwalker battles, creatures being stranded, urbanisation, civil war, the Guilds being founded etc.)
- the planeswalker war in Corondor
- the planeswalker war on Ulgrotha (may or may not have loose connections to the two things mentioned before)
- at least one Homelands novel

More on Radha and Greht's rivalry. My favorite part of the Time Spiral novel. Also, I'd like to see how Wasitora's brood came into power in Madara, and how this affected Tetsuo and his posse.

Yeah, I definitely want to know what happened with Baron Sengir and where the Dwarven Gate led (assuming he and his army went through it). I'm likewise interested in what happened to Ravi and her little toy.

I would also be interested in hearing about some of the other combatants in the Arena on Otaria, like Jareth, and Arcanis the Omnipotent.

I would love to hear the stories of all the Legends from, uh, Legends, there were not featured in the two novel cycles, like Axelrod Gunnarson, Gwendlyn Di Corci, and Jacques le Vert. They could have some fun stories.

And, of course, I'd like to see some stories based on one of my favorite Legends of all time, Uncle Istvan.

I'm not even sure if Legends fits into proper canon.

I see that Ulgrotha may have a chance of getting a revisit according to Maro's list, butt it still seems very low. In the meantime, I took liberties to postulate an optimistic hypothesis:

To think they actually used to print novels for older sets years after those sets had been released, and that those novels were among the best in the entire canon (The Dark, Ice Age, Antiquities, Legends)... We really might have got a Homelands novel if they had continued in the same vein. :rain:

Why would I care about old dragons of Tarkir fighting one another?

:(

I just made myself sad...

...and a little angry...

There, there Raven, it's fine. I know the feeling. There are just so many things wrong with that Tarkir place...
The cancellation of the novel line in general makes me pretty sad and a little angry every time I look at my Magic bookshelf.

Wasn't it sort of resolved, though? I mean, hstily done or not, we know that the losers became wurms and other things.

That said, I don't think we have a solid ending for Arcades. I do know almost every other Elder aside from Nicola died onscreen.

Seconding the Planeswalker War and the Fall, Rise, and Fall Again (?) of the Homelands. The latter of which would hopefully re-introduce Ravi to the multiverse as an insane planeswalking Baba Yaga.

That's not the issue, the issue is we know virtually nothing about the time. It's the earliest point on our Callender and we don't even have solid facts about what the war actually was.

Fair enough. I suppose the original plan for the lore about the war is lost to time - if it was ever conceived.

I would like a collection of stories from each plane about the inhabitants. Going into how they live their lives, the history, and then possibly bring up some interesting characters. Either walker free or slight glances of them from the inhabitants at most.

Yes, there's so much they could do with Ravi and some of the other dangling threads from Homelands, they even planted the seeds for her post-Mending return with Elixir of Immortality. At the very least they should really really resolve the Baron's planar invasion. I'd kill to know what the issues with reusing the Sengirs are that Ethan mentioned a while ago.

I wouldn't mind reading about the gap in time between the original Kamigawa block and the Post-Mending timeline. Obviously Michiko Konda and That Which Was Taken are still around guarding the place since they popped up during the Bolas fight montage in Time Spiral. I wonder if they pop up to greet every 'Walker that swings through. Like, did they lay down the law with Jace when he visited? How do they feel about Tamiyo? Is Tamiyo....even welcome on her home plane? I mean, there really is no evidence that she wouldn't be welcome there, but how do the other moonfolk feel about having a 'Walker in their midst?

Hm, good point about the Sisters. Did they show up in Time Spiral before or after Bolas went on his killing spree on Kamigawa to wipe out the Umezawas? I can't quite remember the exact chronology of Bolas' actions in Time Spiral. Because if they showed up before that, Bolas might have killed them later. Or maybe he killed them when he set up the Consortium cell on Kamigawa. Or maybe the Sisters just can't sense Neowalkers entering their plane because their presence isn't as strong anymore? As to Tamiyo, her planeswalker profile says that "Tamiyo sees each new plane is [sic] an unexplored treasure trove of knowledge to be brought back to her people’s great scroll towers", so the Soratami are probably her biggest fans for sharing the secrets of the multiverse with them. Kamigawa is just one more item on the long list of things that need to become a part of post-Mending Magic.

@Jace: They didn't say anything to him. The reason they stepped in with Leshrac is because Bolas had gotten the drop on them and proceeded to tear the world a new one while he was enacting his revenge on Night's Reach. It was only because he was so powerful that they took steps.

Bolas, btw, didn't establish the cell on Kamigawa. That was Tezzeret's handiwork.

@Tamiyo: apparently she drops scrolls off at the libraries with all her research, so I think the soratami consider her a major boon.

I love how that and the new orochi card highly hint at a progressive or at least schoolarly focused Kamigawa.
