Because no one started it here:

White - Non-DF

Image

I mean wow, a bartender ghost. While everything goes to madness, it's nice to know some good and whimsical things remain. He's even got the blazer.

Blue - Non-DF

Image

I love when MTG cards all abstract and metaphorical. Also love the palette.

Black - Non-DF

Image

Adore the palette. It makes it look a bit like an 19th century painting. Very peaceful as well.

Red - Non-DF

Image

It's a perfect blend of comical and deranged. Also looks like Jeremy Irons in the D&D movie.

Green - Non-DF

Image

There's something inherently creepy about this card. In a set already full of mystery and mutation, the flavour text and grotesquery hint at something very dark, possibly unrelated to the main story. Also I love the eyes.

DF

And this, my friends, is how you take full advantage of non- horror.

Artifact

Image

I just adore the concept. Also very cute.

Land

Image

I love the feeling of desolation, and the golden tones are very pleasing to the eye.

I did consider Press for Ansers as my fav Blue, but it fell just slightly short of the awe of Trail of Evidence. It's still a hilarious artwork.

"graaaaaaauugh gabora make sowrd"

Anyway my real favourite card flavourwise is

simply because Frankenbromance isn't something I realized I needed before today. Seriously if Ludevic is being any less than 100% sincere I'm gonna be upset.

I have a feeling that Ludevic might be both sincere AND creepily evil about this, and be intending to put one or both of their brains in one or more Skaabs. If I recall, Ludevic is really old so he may be looking to stitch himself a new body for life extension reasons. And he may want to test the theory on his brilliant young collaborator first.

Rats in the Walls is maybe the high point of actual horror, but also the high point of Lovecraft being really, REALLY racist.

God I have no idea how I'd begin to pick favorite cards. This set is so so good.

I may have just done so myself but I still have to agree with this. There's a lot to love. Innistrad is a flavor team jewel.

Is Ludevic old? I thought we had too little info on him to determine that

Ludevic was essentially a non-entity in the original block, and only got a mention as having been imprisoned and then escaped inn the Garruk UR. No details on his physical appearence, though it'd wouldn't be surprising if he was going all Jeeper Creepers on Geralf.

Pity, I really wanted disgusting fleshly sex scene with postules and mutating stomachal lining.

Is Ludevic old? I thought we had too little info on him to determine that

"Ludevic. The most influential of Nephalia's merchants is Ludevic of Ulm, a wheezing and reclusive alchemist. Some say that Ludevic's consumption of potions and inhalation of toxic vapors has left him no choice but to abandon his experiments, leaving him to devote his sizeable intellect to the problem of making himself and his partners filthy rich. Others gossip that Ludevic still dabbles in the alchemical arts." - Planeswalker's Guide to Innistrad: Nephalia and the Undead

That was the passage I was thinking of. Just looked it up. OK, so he's not necessarily old as I'd thought but he does seem to be sick?
