Wizards has basically killed any Vorthos in me.

They will retcon **** anything for a short term kick in coolness. There is no canon anymore; its just whatever the current set builders wsnt.

Nahiri was dead because the Mending. Now she's RW and angry at Sorin because reasons (Sorin didn't do anything and neither Ugin or Nahiri showed up to help him seal again)

Nobody said she has been dead, though. And we've seen her sleep through ages as stone.

While I agree with the general frustration, I'd like to point out that it was never stated that Nahiri was dead. They do need a good explanation for how she survived the Mending, but the fact that she's going to return should be no surprise. My guess is that she either turned her body to stone or was in some kind of stasis, perhaps trapped by Sorin for reasons. And if she's actually going to splash , I called it ages ago

I'm quite happy with the spoilers I just looked at. Seems like they kept a lot of the cool stuff and got the atmosphere right, too. Looks like they're going to explore Hollowhenge a bit more, if that one card is any indication. Which is awesome and definitely on my wish list, have been wondering for ages what actually destroyed that place.

Do we need an explanation for Nahiri surviving the Mending? She's still a spellcaster. We've seen oodles of those extending their lives for centuries.

It doesn't.

Well, it's not just the 100+ years since the Mending, it's also the 6,000+ years of her Oldwalker age catching up with her, like it happened to Bolas and Liliana. I just noticed Nahiri's even in the art of the card with her flavour text. She seems to be wearing black, which looks cool, but she's still got hair, so she probably didn't turn herself to stone after all... The building she's destroying there is almost certainly Markov Manor.

I hypothesised when it was suggested she was still alive after the Mending that she will have turned herself into stone so she doesn't age.


The plebs love a "returned from the dead" story too much, and the MtG writers are generally too amateurish (see: their complete mishandling of time travel in Khans) and too numerous to stick to anything - any character that dies will, given enough time, be brought back because it sells so well with people not invested in continuity.

It's essentially Marvel universe now - it's the same problem comic books have. Noone new wants to be held to the decisions made by earlier stories, and they all have a bunch of creative ideas with no other outlet so it's just going to be hodge-podge of whatever seems good at the time.

You should all treat flavour only as a set-by-set thing from now on. They will find reasons to make anything they did before no longer apply.

Also, really curious why she is even on the plane. Sorin clearly headed there to grab her, so she probably still has a spark, but why is she only appearing now and why on Innistrad? Also, is she aware of the events of BFZ block or has she been away and still mad about Stirring from Slumber events?

Also, she never died. I don't know where you got that idea from but it has never been clearly stated or even implied from what I recall.

Maro did state that they would never do that because Black has inherent connatations that "purple" lacks. I was just joking anyways, I hope that Nahiri is mono- or and is the main villain.

She's a spell caster, but that doesn't mean she has any affinity with life extension magic. You of all people should know general spellcasting has no correlation to specialization.

I looked at all the spoiled cards and I'm happy.

Elspeth was only in her mid twenties. Alara's events took place when she was 23 and Theros marked her 27th year.

If Bolas can be young and beautiful forever, then so can Nahiri!

Bolas looks like a no-chin thick-browed gremlin.

I'd be fine if they said it was being encased in a hedron that kept Nahiri as she is. Or even some kinda magical spin on that royal lady that liked to bath in the blood of virgins. I forget her name at the moment, but it would fit with the theme of Innistrad.

Bolas is sexier than Ugin.
