I wonder if the slaying of Lorthos dis-allusions Kiora into rage-quitting and she skips Zendikar to go get her mind right.

Kiora doesn't seem used to losing, so I can see how this would cause a sort of existential crisis.

Someone on reddit mentioned that Barren Glory should have been reprinted in Oath. I'm not a huge fan, but I wish we'd had more cards that hammered in just how close and Pyrrhic this victory actually is.

Wouldn't really fit given how all the "evil" cards are Eldrazi, but a Devoid knockoff would be pretty good, especially if it was Ulamog's signature light spell.

To be honest, I'm not really buying the "story reasons, not mechanical ones" thing. It's pretty obvious that they'd want their Gatewatch to consist of stereotypical mono-coloured 'walkers only, and that a white, blue, red, green and blue-green Oath would make for the weirdest cycle ever. So unless you count that as a 'story reason' to some extent (though it's more to do with branding than story IMO), I really don't think story took precedence over deign there. Unless they kill off Kiora anyway, but then I'll care even less about anything than I already do.

Maybe the Eldrazi ARE the good guys. After all, look at this from their point of view. They were just chilling out in the aether, their home. They stop by Zendikar for a quick visit, maybe a vacation, because the heard the food was good. What happens? They're jumped by a Vampire, a Dragon, and a stoner and locked in prison without a trial. They finally get free, only to find their children being slaughtered.
