As to why, reincarnations being a different gender are common in stories with the concept of reincarnation, so that isn't unusual.

I don't mind the dragons reincarnating into different or the same genders; the first thing I thought of reading that was Avatar: The Last Airbender. But like the original twitter asker was wondering, why was Jugan rebirthed into a new gender rather than his/her reincarnation? And why wasn't this change highlighted in the article itself?

I know the dragons are super hyped and everything, but I'm going to be super disappointed when we don't get a cycle of new kirin.

Kirin are now 's iconic in Asian planes so one is guaranteed. But likely not a cycle in other colors unfortunately.

I feel like the drip feeding of information over these snippets is intentionally designed to **** with people's expectations.

I like the idea that the current emperor can be anyone but when they appear with Kyodai as the Sisters of Flesh and Spirit to confront extraplanar threats like Leshrac, the emperor automatically looks like Michiko did originally. Like a spiritual mecha.

I like that idea. Or the kami specificlly choose emperors depending on how they resemble Michiko. Fitting for their mythological pettiness.

It actually feels like they are going in a rough chronological from the first block to the present.

So, Kamigawa is fully merged up. That's an interesting development, but one that tracks nicely with how the source material addresses spirits and the like in the modern world. I do like how they're rolling the history of Kamigawa in these snippets.

The akki are probably the main source of malware and spambots.

I like that they work the change in art direction into the lore and in a fun way so you can take it as canon or just think of it as a mythology.

Yeah, remember when they never (really) explained why the Mirrodin goblins were suddenly frog-mouthed? Including throwbacks like the later-printed Krark who should have been alive back when they were Otaria-style greenskins?

I'm glad they explained this time. Feels nice.

I can chalk that up to mirari BS.
The bit that pisses me off is the Firemane Angels' re-existence and their lack of wings.

I think that was explained as the current firemen angels being made by Feather instead of Razia.
