I've often wondered how he felt about them taking over Madara in his absence.

He took it rather poorly.
Like "rampage" poorly.

I had a thought, given the cross block synergy, with Kaladesh a dedicated artifact block, what do people think of the chances Tezzeret will actually crop up in Amonkeht considering Bolas's dominance of the world?

I can see it. I expect to see at least some artifacts, in the form of obelisks and such. Having an artifact 'walker might not be terrible there.

That would be neat (even though I am not a fan), I mean when was his last appearance again? The Mirrodin return? :/

Tho I am drawing blanks to who the usual Jacetice Leaguer would be present in this.... Jace and Liliana? (Jace has ties with Tezzeret if ever and has seen Bolas right?)

Oh yeah, Jace knows Bolas. And after the Eldrazi arc, it would be funny if he thought he wore the big boy pants enough to tango with the dragon.
I want the gatewatch to epicly fail at some task, and damned if this wouldn't be the ideal villain to do it.

There's a chance it will be about Lili's next demon though.

I could also see this as being about Gideon. He, after all, comes from a world with tyrannical gods, and might have something to say about these. Also, with Bolas's colors being , they might want to bring in and maybe a for balance. But most likely, even if Bolas does get another card, it probably won't figure in to that kind of balancing anyway, so who knows.

But yeah, if the Gatewatch show up in Amonkhet, which they very likely will, I would love for them to get thoroughly trounced. Maybe even the first Gatewatch death? I'd be for that.

I love how your theory started (the Gideon - Theros - Gods connection), because I love seeing Gideon (and the fact that it's looking extremely hot in Amonkhet? POSSIBILITIES haha!)...

then all went grim with the 2nd part, because I just know the possibility of him being killed is high if ever in that setup with his recent characterization. :/

Yeah, sadly, if they did decide to kill off one of the Gatewatch, I would think Gideon would probably top that list, or maybe Nissa, if they want to fan-service it. But I doubt they'll do that, after all the trouble they've gone to in order to construct the Gatewatch in the first place. I mean, I would totally kill one of them off, but I don't work for them, so they probably won't take my ideas.

They might probably do, to rebuff the now widely seemingly accepted view that the Gatewatch are Oldwalker power level...

They might go away from Amonkhet with killing a Leaguer and be like, "See, guys, theyre still weak!"

Well, if they do, I'm pulling for Nissa to take the fall over Gideon. Or Jace, of course, but I think we all know how likely THAT is.

Sadly, Ajani is probably the most likely replacement for a fallen member, which would still settle the crosshairs on Gideon.

Didn't someone mention Amonkhet was going to be less connected to the overall storyline? Then it could be like a stinger after the Gatewatch three-set arc. Something happens on Amonkhet that gets Nicol Bolas to be like, "Well...it's time to go." Cut back to the Gatewatch, unaware that Bolas is on the move.

Could be. I would love for them to have nothing to do with the set, personally. Of course, I would pretty much love for the Gatewatch to have nothing to do with ANY set, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm not all that bothered by what's going on in kaladesh with Chandra and big sister Liliana.
It's only Nissa pushing in that rubs me wrong.

Sounds like a good role for Ajani, who has beef with both Bolas and gods and is both green and white.

I doubt Ajani would just leave his ideological war against Heliod unless he killed the bastard, which hopefully won't happen so soon.

I feel like were gonna get a black white local planeswalker in this set. I feel like those are very Egyptian colors

If anybody from the gatewatch is here, I would be down for the next lily demon. Maybe she can experiment with higher brow zombies.

I wouldn't be disappointed if Bolas went through Jace's mind and found out that Ugin is still alive and kicking.

Given that the first tease for this world was a forge that remakes the individual - Jace running right in and challenging Bolas from the get-go, then getting his butt beat would be cool. A Rocky III story, essentially.

Serious Stargate Vibes from the pic in the opening post...

And somehow very appropriate for Bolas inserting himself of the god of this land as well.
